I needed to rethread my lower control arm for my Jeep’s stabilizer link. Drilled it with the provided drill bit then slowly tapped the new threading. I didn’t have the handle but a 9mm wrench did the job. Slow and straight. No problem. Insert the lock, Popped the tag off and the new bolt went in without any issues. Following the instructions I drilled out the hole and tapped it without any problems. However in spite of spending more than an hour and trying 4 different inserts, I was unable to thread any of the inserts into the tapped hole. I purchased a bolt the size of the threaded hole (14m x1.5) and it threaded right in. I then purchased a nut the size of the hole 14m x 1.5. In spite of my continued efforts I was unable to thread an insert into the nut confirming the inserts were the wrong size. This product absolutely did not perform as presented. I later purchased another kit, a Time-Sert kit (much more expensive - $125.00) and the helicoils threaded right in. ... show more

Drill bit and tap worked perfectly. It was my 1st time using a thread repairer and could not get the insert seated properly with this tool and had to buy the name brand one. But the drill and tap were worth the price.

The instructions were clear. There's also videos online. It's just like using the name brand. I was able to fix my crankshaft threads. Take your time and you should be fine.
