As I started reading the introductions and information before using the book, I came across SO many typographical and grammar errors, as well as font changes. I have no issues paying the price for these journals, as I found the morning habits journal great, but if they aren't even going to take the time to edit the copy, the journals aren't worth the cost. ... show more

I like the size, color, and content of the meditation journal. So far, I’m impressed by the content and the thought that went into it. All in all, I’d give it 4.5-5 stars. The only thing that I am not liking are the audio meditation links. The content is great, but the speaker doesn’t really work for me. I find it a bit hard to listen to and not very relaxing. Still, I can always substitute other recorded meditations, so it’s not a deal breaker. I would recommend this journal. ... show more

  • Great for kickstarting my meditation habit!

I've been trying on and off to build a meditation habit for almost four years. I recently discovered Habit Nest's Sidekick journals and thought I'd give their meditation journal a shot. Since I started using the book, I haven't missed a day! I haven't finished it yet, but I'm feeling the best I have so far about my meditation habit, and the accountability of reflecting and writing about each day's meditation is really keeping me going. The first week included guided meditations for every day introducing various types of meditation, and at the end of those, the book recommended an awesome meditation app called Insight Timer, which I now use for my daily meditation. As if the structure of the book itself wasn't enough to merit buying, there's also a community of other Habit Nest journal owners all supporting each other. I've enjoyed reading about other people's progress through their journals and sharing some of my ups and downs. I've already ordered three other Habit Nest journals, and I'm hoping they come out with Evening and Budgeting journals, too. I'm very hopeful that their journals will finally help me kickstart a few habits I've been struggling with for years! ... show more

So if you’re looking for a great journal than this is it. They do a good job explaining the “why” and guide you through some basic questions about why you want to meditate and what may throw you off. Part of the reason I bought this journal was because it provides daily guided meditation which is suppose to provide different tools to help you along the way. The person speaking just doesn’t seem that into what he is doing and I often hear him moving or making sounds (maybe when he moves or is reading a script?), and it takes me right out of the mindset I was in. Meditation is difficult for me so any external distractions, at this early stage of meditating, just mess me up. So, this is why I am giving the journal 3 stars. ... show more

I am on page 35 so I have meditated 35 more days than I would have without the journal. It is an awesome tool for those new to meditation or those like me who have been away from this good habit for a number of years. There is space, but not too much space to journal before you start the program, daily and between stages. I started with just 5 minutes of toe tapping and now up to 15 minutes going by before I am ready to stop. There are useful tip, links and encouragement everyday of the journal. I am playing to give Habit Nest morning rituals to my sister when she moves. I am also planning to get the Habit Nest food journal for myself when I have completed this one. ... show more

I started meditating just in the past few months. I had used another book/guided journal to get started (Practical Meditation for Beginners, 10 Days to a Happier, Calmer You), and it was wonderful, but I felt like I wanted a little more opportunity for guided journaling along my meditation journey. I love this guided journal, both inside and out! The cover and binding are sturdy and very pretty :) I appreciate the intro material, with the why's and how this all works. I was in the process of also reading Atomic Habits and so that reference in this guided journal was extremely helpful and connected nicely with what I was already looking at. Something I really appreciated in the Meditation Sidekick Journal was the built in flexibility and forgiveness. I had felt that if my meditation time wasn't as stated in the other book (which is still wonderful!), then I was doing it wrong. If I hadn't worked my way up to a 15 minute meditation, then I was ready and didn't deserve to take the next step. I appreciated that the Meditation Sidekick starts meditations with "set your timer for 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes." It's okay to only meditate for a short time! I don't HAVE to build up to a longer meditation to be worthy to continue on the pathway toward building my meditation practice and try new things! I also emailed the company, not really expecting an answer and worried I'd have unsubscribe from some crazy email list, but I got a real live response, and that was exciting! There are real people behind this who seem to genuinely care about their products and their usefulness! I really like this journal, and I am extremely happy that I started meditating! In just a few months, I'm finding that I can sleep without a shot of whiskey every night, and I don't even think about drinking, which I used to do quite frequently. If I have a tension headache, meditation can soothe it away. If meditation can't soothe it, then there's another reason (like allergies). When I get agitated/anxious/stressed, meditating can help calm me down and bring me to a much better place of peace. I'm better at forgiving people and "letting it go." This process has been a huge game-changer in my overall quality of life and mental health! My husband says I sound like a new-agey healy-feely freak, which he loves about me, and I do! Which I normally am not. I think that learning about the scientifically shown benefits of mediation, with actual studies and brain imaging, gave me "permission" to try this, since it's not just witchy-woo-woo stuff, and I'm so glad I did, because it's a huge deal how different I feel and how much . . . better! everything is!   • This changes everything I thought about meditating !

I made a resolution the ‘learn’ how to meditate. With the help of this sidekick journal, I’ve quickly realized that it’s about practice, and the online guides help me to practice. It feels way better than the daunting task of ‘learning’ it. I totally recommend this to anyone that has stopped and started meditating, or anyone who hasn’t started because it seemed too difficult.
