It was easy to assemble and begin using right away. The telescope feels very sturdy; the tripod is decent-it doesn't feel like its going to collapse or bend. I like that the tripod can be shorter and set on a table, or can be extended to stand on the ground-although it is still low to the ground. The barlow lens won't stay in the other lenses-the size isn't quite right so the screws won't tighten all the way and it falls out. The attachment for the phone won't hold the phone tight and it falls off often. It won't get the phone camera close enough to the lens to be able to take a picture. I had better luck just holding my phone up to the lens and taking a picture, although its hard to hold it still at the right angle long enough to get a good picture-which is why the phone adapter would have been nice if it worked right. ... show more

The item is great for those who are new to star gazing, it allows you to view the moon, mars, and more. It is easy to use and assemble, but it may be a bit of a challenge locking on to celestial objects in the sky. I would recommend this telescope to those who are just starting out. But remember, choosing a telescope based on length or diameter alone is not a good idea, so I suggest that you do the calculations and have an idea of what you are trying to see through a telescope before buying it. ... show more

It worked for 2 weeks after I was not able to use it anymore. There are no viewable objects anymore, it behaves as if the mirrors got misaligned. I still have to see if I can salvage it for parts for my next telescope. Not a great experience when you are a beginner. After I purchased the seller's information disappeared, so I was not able to ask for customer support. Had to return. This was definitely not new. Returned by someone else and was then sent to me. You could see that it was repackaged. Easy to assemble. Sucks that after assembling it, the lens had a smudge, or flaw, on the inside of it and was useless. Complete crap if you want to take a picture through the lens. Hard to see anything except the moon. Couldn’t really see the stars through it. Definitely can’t see planets. ... show more

This scope has some pretty good features for a beginner. The lens quality is meh, but the scope has a good spotting scope. There is a fine adjustment dial, which is not usually on scopes in this class. That's a nice touch. The tripod is quite stable and the scope doesn't wobble. It does oscillate every time I touch it, so I have to dampen the oscillations with my hand. The camera mount is easy to use, but the weight throws the scope out of alignment, so you have to adjust for the weight. I haven't seen the night sky a single night since I got the scope, so I am unable to report on its ability to see celestial images. I have had decent results on distant ground object, though. I've captured some images of radio towers, bird nests, etc. The scope allows me to see that stuff fairly well, but the lenses are a bit cheap. Again, I understand that this is a beginner scope, so I take that into account. The focus wheel is smooth and allows for fine focus adjustment. The maximum sharpness is not all that sharp, but I've seen worse. Pretty good scope for a beginner or kid. ... show more

This is a large telescope. It is sorta clunky and hard to get around. the included tripod was a pain to put together. also finding targets is very annoying. you have to point where it is and find certain stars in the finder scope. otherwise a fine telescope.
