  • Excellent device, good views
We got this telescope as a next step of ours beginners telescope. We wanted more reach and a great view. Instructions are a bit confusing but after studying it carefully everything went well and fairly easy to set up. Like any new thing you get, it comes with a period where you need to learn and process how to use it. We are not experts, we are just space fans. The telescope looks nice and neat. Seriously heavy once you finish the whole set up with weight and everything. The lenses are identifiable easily. Great gliding and The tripod is very useful and hold the telescope in a safe manner. We have seen planets, the moon and a couple of galaxies. It feels like professional star gazing. I would recommend it. ... show more

  • Well Made -good value for beginners
Packaged well and a quality telescope. It was suprising to get something this well made in this price range. You could tell english wasn't the choice of language in the manual. But it could be followed - a little confusing because some assembly instructions were out of sequence. But it's easy enough to figure out if you're technically minded at all. I originally purchased one that was slightly less, and the poor quality showed as the focus adjustment teeth came with sections missing. This one is really well made; but you still have to treat it gentle because the internals on this type is thrown out easily if you turn the wrong screw and it takes special equipment to properly realign. I got it together and was able to view the moon craters easily. I was just checking quickly because it is to cold to set up properly now. I need to study a little on properly setting it up and knowing which way to look. It is very well made but it's also heavy to cart around. Even considering the weight it might be well worth the hassle of moving it to a better viewing area once you become familiar with the correct way of aiming it and stabilizing the mount. People seem to forget that at the distance you're looking that the slightest bump will put the object out of you view. It kind of worries me I might be gettng into an expensive pastime; but it's a good starter telescope. It did take a little bit to figure out the phone attachment, it isn't really explained that I could find - but it isn't difficult and I'm sure there are videos. ... show more

  • Good quality, easy to assemble
We took this telescope to Alaska as a gift for my son-in-law. Once there it was easy to assemble, the directions were a littel unclear, but with a little help from the internet we got it assembled. The tripod is very sturdy and I had to fear of topling the large scope. Once we learned how to use the view finder and lenses the views were clear and we couldn't believe the detail. It will take some practice, but we have hopes of viewing the night skies of Alaska. ... show more

  • Eh... well... I am sure it will work, but it doesn't so far
Shipping was great - a huge box, but it's a sizable device. We got it put together, though it was almost a pure guess because the instructions were teeny pictures with words that even an eagle eye could barely read. And even then... it's all still pretty much a guess because the pics are so small it's hard to be sure you are doing what you actually are supposed to. There is literally NO instructions on once it's put together, what to do... I would prefer to skip pages 2-end which discuss what you might see, and give detailed instructions on getting the sucker setup properly and able to find something. Who gives a rip about the possibilities of what you CAN see if you can't actually see anything once it's together. If you go a little further with instructions then you get more raving fans vs utterly frustrated droves of people doing more googling than using. I have decided I need to buy a collimator as the best path to getting the telescope set up properly. I have no idea if that is the best course of action, but some other reviewers indicated that is what they also did.... so buying another item to try to fix the lack of good instructions... hope it's not good money after bad... Will update once I get the collimator. ... show more
