My old wallet was starting to come apart at the seams. Literally. What caught my eye about this wallet was the ID slot on the outside as well as the outside card holder. Whenever I check in at a hotel, there are 2 cards I need to show: id and a credit card. With this wallet, these 2 cards occupy the prime spots so most of the time I can keep the wallet closed. That's a good thing because unlike my old wallet, this one doesn't have a pocket for my money, instead it has a clip. I don't love that opening this new wallet means everyone can see if I'm carrying cash - that's a bit more exposure than I would like. There's another tradeoff between a pocket and a money clip. When transferring from my old wallet to the new, I found a bunch of stuff just thrown into the pocket - some useful, some not, none that would fit into the new wallet's card slots e.g. a travel packet of aspirin. I'm not sure if you can tell from the pictures but the new wallet on the left and the old wallet on the right take up an almost equal amount of space. This is not a slim wallet. Although it's labeled as minimalist, if you use up every card slot and the money clip, it's not (minimalist). On the other hand, if you're using every card slot, you shouldn't be looking for a minimalist wallet anyway. ... show more

This wallet is closer in size to a regular size wallet as opposed to the money clip I had been using. On my money clip, the clip wasn't holding as tightly as it used to so I wanted to replace it so I didn't lose any money. The new wallet keeps the money more secure, but I do miss being able to fold my bills individually - using this wallet I have to keep them in the same group to slide over the money clip. There are a nice variety of card slots. The clear ID slot kept my driver's license to lose and I was scared I'd lose it, so I put my business cards in it. I used the other side of the exterior of the wallet to keep my ID and the credit card I use most frequently. It's fitting in my front jeans pocket okay, but it's bulkier than I'd like so I may end up just looking for another money clip eventually. The first photo is my current minimalist, money clip wallet (fully loaded with my cards and cash) which I can use in a hip pocket or front pocket. This wallet is 1/16" longer, 1/4" wider and 1/16" thicker than my current wallet (same cards and cash). The third photo is this wallet fully loaded. The size differences aren't huge but when you put a wallet into your pocket, you can feel the difference. I'll use this wallet with looser fitting dress pants but not with tighter jeans. I don't usually comment on packaging, but this wallet was packaged in a beautiful gift box and comes with a microfiber pouch for storage (4th photo shows the packaging materials). I like that this wallet is from good quality leather and it looks and feels great. i also liked that it has a lot of pockets (credit cards slots). I really wanted to like the ID card slot, but my license was wanting to slide out of it so I opted not to use that feature. i was also not a big fan of the money clip and not sure I would trust it not to lose cash. However if you're primarily looking for a home for your credit cards that is sleek and nice, this works great for that. ... show more

The wallet is made of nice leather material and it has RDIF blocking. It has several slots (10) for credit cards, membership cards, health insurance, etc. But there really isn't anywhere for cash except in the middle, secured by a clip. I don't like having all my cash exposed anytime I open my wallet. There is a convenient window slot for your ID but when I put my license in there it easily fell out. An accompanying picture shows how the product is packaged which is well-done, especially if making a gift. Additional pictures show a comparison to my existing (worn) billfold, where an ID is expected to reside and how currency would be contained inside the billfold. Hope you find these helpful in making your decision to purchase. Men's wallets are like women's purses, what suits one person may not be for someone else. I did not find anything wrong with the quality of this wallet, it just doesn't meet my needs. ... show more

I would not call this a "minimalist" wallet, though certainly it's more compact than a big, bulky trifold. It's somewhere in the middle, so "medium sized". It's beautifully made and beautifully packaged, and would make a great gift. But for me -- well, I've been using a really minimalist two-sided "no-fold" wallet, which I really like, but it's a few slots short of being able to hold everything, so I'm always having to rotate a few cards in and out depending on my plans for the day. So, I had hoped to step up to something just a little bit bigger -- but this one turned out to be just too much bigger. This would be a good back-pocket wallet, or maybe front pocket with loose/baggy pants, but not so great for jeans or tighter athletic pants or anything like that. But I'm taking points off for that, it just is the size it is and you'll either like the size or not. I will say that I also didn't really like the money clip, I would have rather just had a cash pocket -- which my no-fold wallet has but this does not. Also, the ID window could stand to be a mm or two wider to keep important info like the id number or birthdate (depending on your locality's id design) from being cut-off when you're looking at the id. So for those things I'd take off a half-point, but that 4.5 still rounds to 5. Overall, it's not the right fit for me, but if you like the money clip and want a medium sized wallet, you should love this one. ... show more
