Should I Buy It?

If you're in the market for an affordable, reliable automatic watch that balances functionality with a stylish design, this Seiko field watch might be an excellent choice. It's particularly suited for those new to automatic watches or looking for a durable everyday watch. However, if comfort due to size or a preference for sapphire crystal is a priority, you might want to consider other options.

  • If I could have 1 watch on a deserted island...
This watch is a great entry-level field watch from Seiko. It is simultaneously simple and minimalistic yet has enough details that catch the eye and make it a pleasant time piece to look at. Not ostentatious nor dull; unassuming yet speaks for itself. Another way - this is not a spicy hot babe on your arm, like a Ginger. This is a girl-next-door beauty who likes being with you, like a Mary Ann. Buy it. ... show more

  • Very good field watch
This is a great field watch and I bought several different models/colors. They all have a domed crystal and proper crystal protectors can be bought for them. The Lume is VERY good and water resistance is 100m. I put on a black with red stripe French paratroopers elastic band and it looks great with. I know some people prefer NATO bands and I do like the NATO band for heavier watches. Great watch!! Sgt. Wall, USMC ... show more

  • Looks great but too big
This watch looks great, it has a modern practical feel to it. Feels well built. But too big to be the practical daily watch I was looking for. I decided to return it and got the Hamilton Khaki Automatic instead. Accuracy of the moment was about -8 sec a day. Not great, but not terrible either. The Hamilton is running about -1 to -2 sec a day, impressive. Keep in mind that these watches are gray market and the ones I got were like new but clearly β€œopen box”. Warranty is also unlikely to be honored by Seiko, check the policy as these are not authorized resellers. ... show more

  • Far exceeded my expectations
This watch is just great. Rugged, reliable, and keeps better time than others costing 20 times as much. Best of all, it can be worn without all the anxiety that comes with wearing an expensive timepiece. Nice size for the average adult male wrist. If it were any larger, I'd probably grumble about its size. It is a bit tall, and made more so by the design of the thick canvas strap that passes under the watch back. I alleviated this simply by replacing the strap with a conventional one that does not. ... show more

  • Not New and Not Japanese
I received a watch that was manufactured in 2015 (I looked up the serial #). The watch also does not say Japan anywhere on it. So I received an 8 year old seiko with no country of origin stamped anywhere. It might be a real seiko from singapore or korea, but it is not Japanese made.

  • Nice Watch
I replaced a Hamilton Khaki with the Seiko. I am partial to automatic watches; this Seiko has not disappointed with looks or accuracy.

  • Accurate, easy to read
Easy to read and keeps accurate time. Calendar feature could be better because it does not flip to current day and date until 11:00 AM each day. Otherwise it is notably high quality fit and finish. My first Seiko and I am very pleased.

  • Massive and Uncomfortable
This is a great looking watch and both the time and day/date are very easy to see. The automatic movement is reported to be a very good one. My issue is the massive size made the watch so uncomfortable I couldn’t wait to get it off less than an hour after strapping it on. It is by far the thickest watch I have ever tried. The nylon strap is cheap looking and some aluminum rings just outside the watch that look bad and serve no purpose except to push against your wrist bone. Returned for an older, smaller model I much prefer. ... show more
