This review is for the SCULPFUN 5W iCube Pro Mini Laser Engraver. The product includes the laser engraver, a tool kit that includes all of the tools you'll need to service the engraver, one extra lens, one extra set of air filters, a set of safety glasses that will (presumably) protect your eyes from possible laser damage, two small boards (one appears to be a compressed fiber material, the other is a lightweight wood), and a set of instructions. My bottom line review of this product is that it seems to be a great entry-level laser engraver. It's a capable machine for the price, and I'm happy with the quality of the engravings and the speed. There are a few areas, though, that could be improved, and I've detailed those issues below. However, I'm giving this product 4.5 stars (rounded up to 5 stars since Amazon doesn't allow half-star ratings). Setup for the actual machine isn't difficult--the laser module is the only item that doesn't arrive preassembled. It is attached to the machine via a thumb screw, and its electrical connector will also need to be attached. I'm very new to laser engraving, so some of my observations about this product may simply be due to my inexperience. However, as an entry level product, it should be as easy as possible for a newbie to set up and begin creating engravings. Here are the things that I think could be better: * Getting the product to connect to the SCULPFUN app on my phone was a bit of a challenge. Specifically, the app refused to locate the engraver even after I had connected to the machine's built-in Wi-Fi. Fortunately, I found a video that SCULPFUN had posted to YT that demonstrated most of the setup process. The issue was that the default IP address in the app (it was preset to 192.168.100.1) has to be changed to 192.168.4.1. After I made that change in the app, it connected easily to the machine. Why SCULPFUN didn't have the correct IP address already preloaded in the app is a mystery. I also had some difficulty maintaining a connection between my phone and the machine, but I think I finally traced that to an issue with my phone: my phone kept trying to switch my connection to my home Wi-Fi because it detected that the SCULPFUN connection doesn't have internet access. * I was eager to try my first engraving, so I used the app to select a preloaded design. After placing one of the included boards in the center of the engraving area, I initiated the engraving process through the app. The first thing I noticed is that the machine began to engrave the design off-center. Apparently, the center of the engraving space is not the correct reference point, and the app doesn't seem to provide an easy method for allowing the user to identify where the engraving should be placed on the piece. This problem may be due to my inexperience, so I'm going to keep working on finding a solution/workaround. * Although the machine has a built-in air filter, I discovered that using this machine in an enclosed indoor space to engrave wood is probably not possible. About two minutes after I started burning my engraving on one of the included test pieces, the smell of burning wood began to fill the room. The filters seem to do a good job of containing/trapping visible smoke particles, but they definitely don't contain the odor. The only solution I can find to this is to engrave wood materials outdoors or in a well ventilated space. I haven't tried other materials--such as metal objects--yet, but I think those should be OK to do inside. * The noise level of the engraver isn't terrible (I measured 50 dB at approximately three feet distance from the machine), but it isn't silent, either. The primary source of the noise is the fan on the back of the machine which apparently runs any time the machine is turned on, even if it isn't engraving. The fan appears to be similar to those used in most desktop computers, so I think it might be possible to replace it with a quieter fan, but I haven't tried this option yet. Also, I think there is a way to modify the fan speed through computer software, but I haven't been able to explore this yet, either. * The product is advertised as being able to cut materials in addition to engraving them. You should be fine to cut thin materials with this laser, but my research indicates that thicker materials will require a more powerful laser. If your primary reason for purchasing this product is to cut thicker materials, I'd recommend looking for a more powerful alternative. Other than the issues I've noted above, this appears to be solid entry-level engraving and light-duty cutting machine. The setup instructions provided with the machine could be better, but I don't think this issue is a deal breaker. If you're looking for a portable, capable engraving machine for personal or small business use, the SCULPFUN 5W iCube Pro can be a good choice. ... show more

I've dove some good engraves with it. I have to take it apart and rebuild it square. Shouldn't have to do that when brand new so just know there may be some work involved in not square!! This seems to be a recurring thing on the groups on fb

I have never used a mini laser before now. There are so many things you can do with this machine. I am just learning. I have used it to engrave wood. Tryed glass and ceramic also tin. I'm still learning to use this machine but I can tell you it's easy to learn. You have to download the App. It comes with protective glasses that you definitely need to use. I give it 5 stars because I have so much more to learn. ... show more
