  • Cool
Software is confusing because it's new to me, and it's not designed the same as Ableton or logic. But all in all is a cool software 2023. You have to go to the website to get your software key sent to your email but once you do you can enter the key in anytime you install the software on any computer of yours. Having fully figured out the software so far but it seems full featured and cool ... show more

  • Lots of potential. Seems like a good solution
There are lots of DAW software solutions out there, all with their variations and limitations. I feel like this will do everything I need it to for now. The interface seems pretty easy to navigate. I'm still adding hardware to my setup (does that ever stop?) so time will tell how well it gets along with future upgrades. There's a lot of versatility buried in here, but at a $70 price it's still very accessible for the home hobbyist user. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this. ... show more

  • Great starting place for a DAW!
This software is excellent for beginners and is reasonably priced for that market. It isn't complicated and it can record quire well. It does take a while to learn the interface and figure out where inputs/outputs and so forth are, but that is with any new program you learn. I was impressed by the quality and the ease. There was no issues in installing or running on my PC. ... show more

  • Good for beginners
This is quite good for beginners that aren't looking to heavily invest in other softwares right off the bat. It definitely can do the job, and does it quite well, as it's not too complicated or confusing. The interface was honestly probably the biggest learning curve, but I find that's fairly standard for any particularly unfamiliar program. I had no issues running or installing the program. ... show more

  • Capable DAW. Great MIDI support. Oddly retro.
I've used Propeller Heads Reason and Reaper for years. I've heard good things about Samplitude and its friendly approach to MIDI. The first impression: the order was filled quickly by Amazon in just a day. The software came in a cardboard folder with a DVD and a code card. I began installing it from the DVD. Honestly, it felt like an installation from the 1990s. The DVD fought with the security software on my windows laptop. I discovered that there is a more modern download option. The installation first asks you to build a login to the Magix Site, and then add in your code. They then email you your serial number. The install challenges you for a serial number and then begins installing the DAW. The second round of installation then goes back and discovers extensions and VSTs are missing, and offers to download and install the missing bits. Once installed the User Interface is quite familiar. It treats content that is created in ways that are similar to Reason, and less like Reaper. Everything is an object, and objects may be moved around from project to project. The user interface is less flexible than Reaper, and therefore easier to navigate. It would be challenging to build a comfortable workflow for Voice Over work. For that kind of work, you have to create content and immediately edit and master- boom, boom, boom. Samplitude feels like it's built to create content as a first priority, editing is accessible from the content creation screens and it's fine. But mastering feels like an afterthought. In this regard, it's more like Reason. Reaper is complicated, but it can be set upf for rapid workflows if you want. Working with Keyboards, automating guitar pedals, and controlling external drum machines is quite straightforward with Samplitude. Again, it feels like Samplitude is designed with capturing performance. Maybe even better than Reason for MIDI. I'm still learning this DAW. I'll probably stick with Reason for Voice-Over work. But Samplitude may replace my very expensive investments in Propellerheads Reason. I like Reason, but Samplitude is a capable alternative for my solo music production projects. I hope this review helps. ... show more

  • Very good beginners DAW for a good price.
Anyone looking for a start in the digital recording should find what they need with this software. The included effects and instruments are better than the ones that come with most other DAWs. There is a bit of a learning curve with this DAW but included in the package are many videos in addition to the ones located on the Samplitude website that will help you get started. The only con is that you can’t record multiple tracks at the same time, so live recording is out. But even without the multiple track recording, it’s still a very good DAW at a good price. ... show more

  • Easy and Intuitive Music Editing
This music editing program is pretty straight-forward. I like the he fact that it comes with a both a DVD and downloadable option for installation. I chose the former using an external DVD drive I keep handy to pair with my laptop which doesn't have a built-in one. Once up and running the program was easy to learn; instructions are clear but the program is intuitive enough so the learning curve isn't terribly steep. Those new to music editing should keep this in mind in considering which software to invest in. What's particularly good about this software is its range of options and features making it something of an "all-in-one" option. The retail price is reasonable. So far there are not only no major criticism I can offer about this program, there aren't even many improvements I can think of for it. ... show more

  • Good, budget DAW, interface has a learning curve
I use a DAW software on a regular basis as a hobbyist. I am by no means a professional. I feel like this is a decent, budget DAW for someone just getting in to production that does not want to spend a ton of money yet. However, those that are more seasoned may find it a little bit lacking. The interface is different than I'm used to, but I was able to figure it out quickly. Some also may struggle with learning the interface, but that is true about most DAWs. ... show more
