  • Edit - driving me crazy with notifications
Style: Solar Pathlight
---- Edit - everything in the original review below still applies. However, there are just too many false alerts for these things to be useful. Even at the lowest motion setting, it still sends motion alerts. The slightest shadow or blade of grass that moves seems to set it off. It's making us crazy. Sometimes it goes off every 15 seconds or so, and there's NEVER anything out there that should have set it off. Both units behave the same and its unlikely they're both defective. These things would have been perfect for places where it's impractical to mount a camera or floodlight. At least with those you have much finer-grained control of motion detection. If these things had a camera instead of a dumb motion detector, they would be much more useful. More expensive too of course, but at this point we have no choice but to turn off the motion detection if we want to avoid being taken away in strait jackets. ------- This is a nice product and had been very happy, until I hit (lightly) one of my pathlights with the lawn mower and it it snapped off the stake. There is a small circular plastic ring attached to the bottom of the shaft, which attaches to the stake you put in the ground. This ring is attached to the bottom of the shaft with three small screws, and the small plastic areas where the screws go through were snapped off. I was going to glue the ring back on, but then I thought that this was a really good design: the engineers anticipated things bumping into the pathlight and designed this part to be sacrificial, to protect the rest of the unit. However, I was told my someone from Ring that there were no replacement parts, and left a 1-star review because of that. Within a day or two, someone from Ring contacted me. He said that the ring that broke was indeed designed to be replaceable, they just don't have any to sell at the moment and offered to send me a whole new pathlight. As promised, it arrived in a few days with a prepaid UPS label to return the broken one. This is how customer service ought to work. I considered giving 4 stars only because replacement rings aren't available, but the excellent customer service I received really deserves 5 stars. Thank you Daniel. All in all I'm very happy with the solar pathlights, they work as expected and actually alerted us to someone suspiciously checking our cars in the middle of the night, and activated the camera on our linked ring doorbell. ... show more

  • Ring Customer Service
Style: Solar Pathlight
Wanted to give 5 Stars, but reliability and WiFi connection aren’t there yet. Purchased 5 solar path lights approximately two months ago. Had to send one back due to motion sensitivity issues. Today while I write this review only two of the five path lights work. The three that don’t work have WiFi issues that haven’t been solved, which yield the path light useless since they don’t know when to turn on - you can’t control through the app since they have no connection. I’m a big supporter of Ring with a full blown alarm system that’s worked flawless. Surprised and disappointed with these path lights that set us back more than $240 for a set of five. Edit: changed to 5 stars due to Ring customer service who was able to troubleshoot the issue - they replaced the batteries for all three path lights. ... show more

  • Dawn to Dusk clearly different than Battery powered
Style: Solar Pathlight
Dawn to Dusk completely different. The battery version has a Dusk to Dawn Feature. The solar lights use light schedules. So light schedule feature allows you to achieve dawn to dusk but your light shows as on all night based on a schedule. Battery powered path lights do not. Only show on when detects motion. Bought 5 and returned them. They do not match as far as Dusk to Dawn lighting when viewing lights at night. ... show more

  • It's not meant to provide lighting...
Style: Solar Pathlight
Final Review - the batteries lasted a little over one year (14 months). Ring doesn't sell replacement batteries. First night review - if you are looking for lights to make your yard brighter, look for a different product. This is only meant to provide bright lighting when motion is detected. When there is no motion, the amount of light emitted is barely visible. You can manually make it brighter, but it will only last for 15 mins max. Then it turns off. Which is weird because I have a setting to be on at the "dim" setting, but it doesn't go back to that. I have 6 Ring cameras which I love. These lights are very disappointing so far... Edit: After a few more nights of playing with the configuration, I've realized that the lights themselves are not the issue - those work great. It is a limitation of the app. A few minor functionality improvements is all that is needed. ... show more

  • love these lights!
Style: (Kit) 4 Pathlights + Bridge
Super easy setup! They are super bright as well. If that’s a problem for you though you can adjust everything with these lights. If you already have a ring setup for your home get these.you won’t regret it.honestly I didn’t realize I was the first person to review this. I guess I should further explain the ease of the set up. Out of the box it’s literally click and connect and they are solid connections. You do have to charge the lights the first time. I’m guessing to give the battery ultimate performance. However, they do work out of the box. You can adjust the brightness, notification times for the motion detectors and much much more. I set mine up sort of like a perimeter facing in multiple directions so anything sets my solar floodlight and the path lights off at the same time. I feel it should be enough to detour anyone. If not I’ll have a nice clear image to send to the police from the door cam or the stick up cam that get activated every time the path light goes off. Awesome products and live the 10 dollars a month plan. I promise I don’t work for ring or any company helping them. I’m just glad I chose this over the other security companies for my new build! ... show more
