Description

While inheriting the basic functions and design philosophy of the current PlayStation 2, the internal design architecture of this newly redesigned PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system model has been completely overhauled. Slimmer and more lightweight, its internal volume has been reduced by 75 percent, overall weight has been halved and the thickness trimmed down to 2.8cm (thickness of current model is 7.8cm). Its size is almost as small as a hardcover book, making it easier to carry around. Equipped with both a modem port and an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming, the new PlayStation 2 sets new standards in the fusion of design and functionality.

Ordered a ps2 but the controller didn't work. Told the seller and he responded within an hour. Seller sent another one. Waited a day just to see the console won't read any disc's. Told the seller and he went ghost. Not worth the time shipping broken stuff. Waste of everybody time and their money they payed to ship it. Come on now, Makes no sense. I received this ps2 faster than expected, and it arrived in perfect condition! It came with a controller too, also perfect condition. The ONLY thing I wish it also came with is a memory card, but that’s an easy find. Thank you, for my ps2!!

The only thing that kept this from a perfect rating was that I found a screw in the memory card slot. Thought I had three bad memory cards as it wasn’t reading anything I put into slot one. I noticed that slot two had a better fit. It was easy enough to remove. There also seems to be some possible voltage issue with the unit. It won’t read two memory cards at the same time and the light on the controller has a fade to it. Not sure if it’s the unit or my setup. Overall happy with my purchase. ... show more

The slim version of the PS2 is still the greatest console ever made. It's an improvement of the first wide console which had a high failure rate and cost customers a lot of money. The console has the largest library of any kind ever, and is backward compatible with Original Playstation games, in all too many games for a casual gamer to have time for in one lifetime. My purchase has already given me hours of bliss playing old games I should never have let go. The game Deus Ex: The Conspiracy is especially relevant now; plagues, conspiracies and artificial intelligence are brought into play in a story you'll never forget. The Madden and WWE games were far more fun, there were no microtransactions and single player games were private, and all genres were full of greatest hits as well as underrated titles. Somehow games were more immersive and fun. Medal of Honor was still good, platformers were at their best, and though some titles have had or are getting remakes and remasters, not enough are. To play a PS One game, remember to have a suitable memory card unless you plan on doing speed runs. You can't use the PS2 memory card for original Playstation games. If you remember, or never had the sheer pleasure of using this amazing console, do it. You will not see the mind-blowing graphics of the PS4 or 5, but forget that and get lost in great gameplay. The item I received, wasn't within the parameters set forth by Amazon. The "Renewed" statement by Amazon says that an item, that is renewed, has very little in the way of scratches while looking at it at 12 inches. And that the item has been cleaned, repaired if necessary and tested for functionality. And therefore it is Guaranteed to be fully functional. Well... here is a list of issues that I found. It was obvious that this PlayStation 2 console had never been taken apart cleaned. Dust is/was throughout the systems vents. And... who ever owned it prior was a smoker...there is evidence of smoke tar in the unit and I could smell it. The Disk cover is damaged....it will make a popping/crunching sound when opened or closed --Note: it doesn't do this each and every time you open/close it. Someone installed, what I would call "Stickers", to deceptively cover heavy scratching and dings that are on top of the console. It is/was obvious that this PS2 console has been beat on badly in the past and is in dire need of some TLC. In my opinion, the optical drive needs to be replaced and the entire inside needs to be cleaned. The Scratches and Dings on the outside of the console wouldn't have bothered me at all, if the system was indeed cleaned, tested and fully functional. Please note: I removed the "Stickers" ….. Because, the one on the Disk cover had stuck to the side of the console and prevented me from opening the cover to install a game disk. Amazon … if you are viewing this review. I recommend that who ever supposedly cleaned, tested and repaired this unit... needs to be fired and never used for any future "Renewed" products ... show more

I was somewhat worried about the quality of this purchase after reading soo many 50/50 reviews saying the console is good but the controllers are bad. However that wasn't the case for me as both my ps2 and the controller it came with was in very good condition so it put to bed any worries I had so believe me you can go ahead with buying a ps2 from here. The only thing I would recommend is that you buy a memory card because it doesn't come with one but other than that it was perfect. ... show more
