Olympians Michael Phelps & Ian Thorpe Advertised Model Black Dial Orange Bezel Self Winding Automatic Chronometer Co-Axial Movement Caliber: Omega 2500, Power Reserve: 44 Hours Unidirectional Rotating Bezel Scratch Resistant Sapphire Crystal Steel Case on Black Rubber Strap 600 Meters / 2000 Feet Water Resistant Luminescent Hands and Markers Case is 42mm or 1 5/8 7" Adjustable Strap Tang Buckle Screw Down Crown & Caseback " The Seamaster Planet Ocean from Omega delivers exceptional performance and great style, both above water and below. The polished steel case frames a black dial with luminous hour, minute, and seconds hands and luminous markers for excellent visibility, even in low light conditions. The dial also features orange Arabic numerals and a date display. The dial is capped with a virtually scratch-proof sapphire crystal and framed by a unidirectional rotating steel bezel, in orange, with minute markings and fluted edges for grip. A comfortable and durable black rubber strap completes the look. This Omega watch features self-winding Swiss automatic movement enhanced by Omega's breakthrough co-axial escapement, a technology that ensures high precision and stable accuracy over long periods of use. It is rated water resistant to a full 600 meters (or 2000 feet). The Omega Story The Omega watch story begins in 1848, when founder Louis Brandt began hand assembling key-wound precision pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen in his principality La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the northwest corner of Switzerland. However, the Omega name didn't appear until 1894, after Louis Brandt had passed away and his watchmaking traditions were taken over by his sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar Brandt. Omega watches have long been associated with glamorous screen and sports stars--the Omega Seamaster is famous for being the watch of choice for James Bond--with current ambassadors including Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, tennis player Anna Kournikova, and swimmers Michael Phelps and Ian Thorpe. But Omega is more than just a fashionable watch. In 1965, the Omega Speedmaster chronograph was "flight-qualified by NASA for all manned space missions" as the only wristwatch to have withstood all of the U.S. space agency's severe tests, including passing grades for extreme shocks, vibrations, and temperatures ranging from -18 to +93 degrees Celsius. The greatest moment in the Speedmaster's history was undoubtedly 20 July 1969 at 02:56 GMT, when it recorded man's first steps on the Moon's surface as part of the Apollo 11 mission. Today, Omega is known for its rigorous testing of new movements, cases, and bands. Each new Omega movement is tested on the wrist in existing Omega models, while various laboratory tests are conducted to determine temperature-resistance, shock-resistance and vibration-resistance.

  • omega planet ocean, foged up
Fogged up after 3 months. Dont buy one unless your never going to get it wet. Warrenty void if water damage, even though its supposed to be a pro divers watch.

  • water proof
Had mine since 2003, and have dived four out of 7 days in Hawaii for three years straight, to include deep dives of 50 plus meters too; never gave me trouble. Anyhow, I've since dived the world over, Great Barrier Reef, Red Sea and the Med again the watch is flawless. I never checked my warranty, but if diving is not covered, I can see why. If the watch case is open and not serviced properly then the internals could get damaged. Omega might not want that hassle of covering an expensive repair, because somone got curious about the internal workings, lol. Anyhow, ask anyone who ever owned an Omega, if it leaked? I wear it everday and shower, jacuzzi, and hot shauna with it at 110 degrees, and it never game me trouble. Still looks new thanks its Saphire lens and stainless case. Average cost of ownership has been $120.00 per year, and getting cheaper by the day. ... show more

  • Awesome watch
I ended up buying directly from watchmaxx.com. Received a brand new watch exactly as expected, with their warranty card in place of the factory warranty card. I haven't had a problem since I bought it almost a year ago. The watch runs within tolerance, about 5 seconds fast per day. I wear it a couple of days per week when I wind and reset the time. The watch has an awesome non-glare coating which at certain angles make it appear there is no crystal at all. With the black rubber strap, the watch goes best with black clothes. The rubber strap is extremely thick and robust. The underbelly of the watch (including strap) is beautifully inscripted. The watch is heavy and has an expensive look and feel to it. I love my Planet Ocean! ... show more
