Having a telescope is my childhood dream, and in many ways this one is great. The only reason I’m giving it overall 4 stars is because the tripod base plate is not at all smooth. It’s nearly impossible to fix it in the exact position (especially vertical axis) once you find the right star thru the viewfinder. Otherwise the telescope itself is pretty nice, fairly easy to put together. Carrying case is convenient and well done. Instructions are easy to understand. Haven’t tried the cell phone mount yet, but not crucial for me. Having covers for all lenses is also a nice touch to avoid dust and artefacts. ... show more

    • Love the backpack case
While the picture shoes a backpack case, I wasn't sure what I was actually going to be getting, but when it arrived, this backpack holds everything! The straps on this backpack are padded which helps because this is not a light telescope. I bought this because I am no way an expert telescope user and would call myself a beginner and this telescope was really easy for me to figure out. While I ordered this after the Christmas star was out, I was still able to use this with my family to look at the stars and even the moon. On nights that it's a little foggy, we're still able to see some stars but this is by far better than trying to look at them through binoculars. We recently took a night hiking trip and were able to see different constellations. We used a free website and no matter which direction we faced, we were able to use the website and this telescope and see majority of the constellations it showed on the website. While some of them were a little to blurry to see because they were out too far, the ones we were able to see came in clear and perfect. We were even able to take cleat pictures and video of the constellations. Attaching the phone holder was really easy to do but the picture and video quality, we found does depend on the phone you're using, With newer phones, we never had a problem with the picture quality but with older ones, the picture wasn't that great, However, when looking through the lens by itself, clear and perfect view. The tripod is really easy to stabilize, even when not on level ground. The legs can be easily adjusted to have one side shorter or longer than the other side or sides. Really easy to move around and you can lock it into place. I am really impressed with the magnification with this telescope and we are able to see the craters of the moon clearly as if it was closer than it really is.     • Problems using it,Maybe it was me
The quality was great and it was super sturdy. However I had trouble keeping the telescope in one position once I tightened the screw to keep it focused on the moon, if that makes any sense. Every time I would get the moon centered and I tried to tighten the screw the entire telescope would move. It was so frustrating after the first night and I gave up trying to use it again. I really looked forward to buying this and was extremely disappointed. But maybe someone else will have better luck. ... show more

Telescopes aren’t always instant ready but this one was easier to put together than some others I’ve had. Unfortunately the instructions aren’t real clear on some of the assembly , especially the phone adapter. I still can’t figure out how to put it on correctly. Overall the scope does give a good image and it’s adjustable at all angels including height adjustment. For simple viewing and beginners it’s great. ... show more

This is a great first telescope for someone thinking of getting into this hobby. It’s easy to assemble, though the instructions could use a little bit of work, It’s not difficult to put together yourself. It was very well packaged, and the backpack case that came with it is a lot better than cases you get with similar items. There’s a good selection of start up lenses and you can add on to the telescope with extra lenses and different filters for things like, stars, moon, and even the sun (DO NOT USE WITHOUT THE PROPER FILTER!!) I’ve never owned a telescope before, so it took a little bit of getting used to sighting in objects, but was made easy with the finder scope that’s included. The backpack has Velcro straps and a separator so it won’t move around or bang against other things like the included tripod. The included tripod does what it’s meant to do, but if you are out in the wind as I was, it does shake a little but really wasn’t a big deal. All in all for a first telescope, you’re not going to go wrong and for the price it’s a lot cheaper than other telescope that can cost thousands! So before you decide on spending thousands and finding that you’re not that into the hobby, spend a little and you won’t be disappointed! ... show more

So once everything is set up, it looks great but it’s not sturdy or smooth to use. Viewing the moon while hold the telescope with your hand since it’s not sturd, the image is clear. You can see very close up and see the shadow and craters all over the moon with very details. But handing it get it is too frustrating. Even if for a beginner, it shouldn’t be so hard and enjoyable and fun. This is not enjoyable. ... show more
