    • Budget needles that are serviceable
These Mr. Pen- Universal Sewing Machine Needles, 50 Pack, are budget needles that are serviceable but I wouldn't use them on fine silks or satins as the finish is a bit rough. You get 50 needles - 10 each of 5, different, sizes. Each size is sealed in a plastic bag so I place mine in an old, medication, bottle after I have opened them. They fit fine in both of my Brother machines. Do note that the finish is not super smooth, as one would find on more expensive needles, so I would not use them on fabrics that will mar easily. However, for cottons or denims or other sturdy fabrics, they seem to work fine and you really cannot beat the price. ... show more

These look very similar to the Singer and Organ brand needles I’ve used, except for what appears to be dark splotches. Looking closer with the aid of a 10x loupe, you can see that these have a very rough surface finish, and the needle shaft appears to be corroded and pitted, which means you’ll get a lot of unexplained thread breaking. I ordered the Mr. Penn-Sewing Machine Needles for stitching pieces of patchwork together for quilting. The needles were compatible with my Singer Sewing Machine and easy to install. Each of the five plastic bags of needles were marked with the size enclosed. However, once a packaged was opened, I needed to store the needles in a small container because the supplied plastic baggies were not resealable.
