The tone and construction of this glockenspiel is good for a student. The carrying case is adequate but the tone of the instrument is quite good. My grankids love playing it, as one of them is playing it at their choral concert this Spring.

Great sound until I get to B above middle C. It is tight, so it doesn't "sing" like the other notes. I was hoping to use for the children's choir my wife conducts, but can't if that one note isn't working. I will be returning this product.

I don’t usually buy instruments off of Amazon. As a music teacher I prefer to stick to brands that I already know. Have a decent track record. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of this rainbow colored Zyla phone. The xylophone comes neatly packaged in a zipper bag with two different kinds of mallets. One set of mallets is wooden, and the other one is plastic with rubber heads. The xylophone also comes with a little song book. What made me most impressed with this? Small instrument is the attention to detail. First of all the bars are color-coded the same colors as my classroom sets of boomwhackers and handbells. Also, the pitch accuracy on the set is quite good. The tone is pretty similar to an entry-level glockenspiel, because it is set up in a keyboard layout with out the ability to remove any of the bars it’s a decent precursor to teaching some piano skills, giving a visual representation of high and low, and as an exploration for timbre. ... show more

This is a nice xylophone for a young student of music or to gift to a child who wants to explore and play. It has a carrying case with an enclosed music book for children so they can get started right away and both plastic and wood mallets. My 10 year old neice could follow the book almost immediately and spent most of the afternoon playing with it. It has a nice tone. It's good quality for the price point and doesn't "sound" like a toy. It's very colorful also! ... show more

Our family is a vibrant, musical family in most imaginable ways. They dance every time music comes on with a hefty beat, bounce to almost anything rhythmic...are attracted to any musical instrument or sound source when it comes on. From babies, to toddlers and beyond (we've partially-raised 18 of them!! lol) The little tikes (Spelling intended to avoid patent issues?) instruments have been HEAVILY worn and played with for years, but now we're moving into mid-level keyboards, guitars, ukuleles, drums, and the like...and now? Now, we are SO STOKED to have this LEGITIMATE xylophone for our family! Our 10 year old has been playing it quite a bit, and LOVES it. His sisters REALLY wanna play, but await proven responsibility (as well as the newness to 'wear off' for the son it was primarily gifted to) and appropriate respect. I honestly feel this xylophone's quality and durability WOULD HOLD, even if beaten repetitively by babies and toddlers, but it's an instrument worthy of keeping in as-new-of-condition as possible here! haha There WAS one issue upon delivery and unpacking. All boxes seemed sound and in-tact, without damage or apparent mishandling. When son came home to find his surprise, he immediately began playing it with glee, but we noticed one of the white keys seemed muted and dull. I noticed it wasn't "floating" freely like the others. Instead of messing with it as I typically would, I wanted to contact the seller so they could instruct remedy, so I avoided damaging it on own volition or naively ruining something with an easier fix than my big hands would've been tempted to do. They responded within a couple of hours--in a supportive, pleasing and clear way! Provided the remedy I was tempted to try, but now had their 'permission'..as well as assurance that if unresolved, they would do whatever it took to resolve any continuing issues. Awesome. One of the support pins was simply SLIGHTLY bent off-center. The mounting points were all good. The pins, by the way? ARE SOLID and assure great longevity...but it was likely bumped during packaging at factory...quality control issue? possibly. Do I feel the issue was resolved? FULLY. It plays, looks, feels, and presents SO WONDERFULLY...I absolutely would recommend this to anyone in a similar search. Admittedly, I have no idea what price point this market bears, but it most-certainly has a value YEARS BEYOND the aforementioned brands we've used (and still have) over the past decade. Enjoy! :) ...
