First thing that impressed me about the Merrell Jungle Mac was the great arch support. Normally I need to used inserts to help guard against my Plantar Fasciitis. I slipped these on and felt as much arch support as more inserts provide, so decided to try these with the insert. After 10 days and probably wearing these shoes for 8 of the days I still am going without inserts. I bought these looking for a leather shoe instead of my current slip on sneakers for morning walks and the dew getting shoes and socks wet. Also the more solid sole will help when we go on park trail other than pavement or crushed stone. Heck, I wore them today on an older stone trail and the soles in muddy/low water areas. The only issue I had was feeling a bit tight and rubbing against ankle bones, but as I've worn them a few days they seem to have conformed to feet. I highly recommend them. I've been wearing the Merrell jungle mocs for ... I dunno ... probably close to 20 years. I love them. They are surprisingly comfortable - they grip well and don't slide off when you are walking, turning, etc. I might slide around in them a touch more than other shoes you can lace/tighten, but I've never had problems, gotten blisters, or such from them. The only drawback on leather models (like I bought and am reviewing) is that in the summer they can be a little hot as they don't vent/breathe like fabric would... but they are solid leather shoes! In winter and even spring and fall, they are great because of that (as are the snow mocs, this model's cousin but with a different sole and I think maybe a little insulation.) Just love them. They last surprisingly long. I've purchased a few pair over that ~20 years ... but only worn like 2 or 3 out! (and when they get worn out they make great "garage shoes" to throw by the back door for use when you step out of the house just for a sec ... I get another couple years of use of the "worn out" pairs doing that! ... show more

    • Amazing slip-on hikers

This is the second pair of Merrell slip-ons I've owned. The first ones were a gift just before camping season last summer. I wore the heck out of them, hiking on back roads and trails, climbing rocks, and just walking around home. They have yet to really wear out, even with almost daily use in all weather. The only reason I replaced them was knowing they had lost some of their spring. (I still use them for repairs and painting at home because they've lasted so well.) The new ones are just as good as the last pair. They're easy to slip on, give great support, have durable treads, and feel just as good - or even better - than full-on hiking boots. They're perfect for camping when you need to slip shoes on and off to avoid tracking dirt into your tent. They're a bit pricey unless you catch them on sale, but well worth it. I picked up these shoes because I like a leather slip on and they were on sale for $40. They also looked very comfortable. In fact, they are some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I have worn them every day for the last two weeks and don't really want to wear another shoe. They are the most comfortable in bare feet. There are little nodules under the bed near the toes that provide a nice message. Would definitely buy again! ... show more

I like Keen shoes. I usually buy them for my "main" utility brown shoe. My old pair got worn out, mostly due to wearing them for my around the house gardening and pool cleaning. So I needed a new pair of brown shoes, that can take me from yard maintenance to Home Depot runs and even walk around for Sunday brunches. Doing my usual research, I came accross these Merrills. True to the reviews and the appearance, these are my new go-to around the house/gardening shoes. Nice snug fit, real leather uppers that can take dirt and getting wet and still look really nice when making runs for groceries or house supplies. I really like the curved bottom sole, which keeps me glued to the ground whether wet or in dirt, and is high enough to sink into the dirt without compromising letting water/moisture getting into the shoes. And look at the pricing! Excellent value for the money - about US $40 at the time of this writting, compared to other shoes - like the Keens - which easily can run twice as much. I ordered a size 12 because my feet are size 12 in the sneakers I typically purchase. I definitely could not slip those on; I needed a shoe-horn to get into them. Returned them and got size 13. I ordered the laced shoes seen in the photo. Amazon shipped me the non-laced slip-ons seen in the other photo. The slip-ons they sent fit great, are easy to slide into hands free and look cool. They are solid Merrell quality, fit and finish. I was going to return the errant slip-ons for the ones I ordered but Amazon didn’t have my size. I kept the slip-ons because of their comfort and wide toe box that fit me perfectly. I’m actually reviewing the unlaced slip-ons and not the laced ones. That was on Amazon, not me. ... show more

These slip-on mocs fit my feet quite well: not too loose, not too tight. They are durable, but not clumsy or klutsy. I use them mostly when working in the yard with the gardens or the koi pond. But then I have discovered they are really quite comfortable to go for a walk in. The soles are tough, substantial, and resilient without tripping you up. ... show more
