Top Amazon Reviews

  • Surpassing Expectations
Style: Controller only
Embarking on the journey of exploring the Official Luna Wireless Controller has been a revelation in the world of gaming peripherals. Initially harboring reservations due to Amazon's relatively recent foray into the gaming industry and the unique directional pad placement, my experience with this controller has been a delightful surprise. Amazon's nascent presence in the gaming sphere initially led to skepticism, but the Luna Wireless Controller's arrival quelled those doubts. The controller's lightweight build, combined with its quality materials, instills confidence in its durability. Upon pairing it via Bluetooth with my Nvidia Shield Pro, my initial concerns about its compatibility were swiftly dispelled. Addressing one of my chief concerns, the directional pad's unconventional placement, the Luna Controller showcases remarkable adaptability. While years of PlayStation controller use had me uncertain about adjusting to this layout, the transition proved smoother than anticipated. It's a testament to thoughtful design that eases the process of acclimatization. Wireless connectivity is where the Luna Controller truly shines. Its seamless pairing process, particularly with my Nvidia Shield Pro, demonstrates its flexibility and user-friendliness. This streamlined compatibility contributes significantly to its appeal, especially for gamers with diverse gaming platforms. Despite its strengths, a noticeable drawback emerges in the form of battery management. Unlike modern standards, the Luna Controller does not offer built-in battery recharge functionality. This omission, while not a dealbreaker, does seem like an oversight in an era where convenient recharging is commonplace. While Amazon's relative newcomer status in the gaming industry initially raised concerns, the Luna Controller proves that innovation and quality can emerge from unexpected sources. Its blend of comfort, versatility, and ease of use make it a formidable contender in the market. The journey from skepticism to satisfaction is a testament to Amazon's ability to create a viable gaming accessory that complements a variety of setups. In conclusion, the Official Luna Wireless Controller is a triumph that defies initial doubts. Its lightweight design, sturdy build, and easy Bluetooth pairing demonstrate its readiness to integrate with modern gaming environments. While battery management falls short of contemporary expectations, the controller's overall performance and adaptability suggest a promising future for Amazon's gaming endeavors. As Amazon continues to refine its gaming offerings, the Luna Controller stands as a testament to their commitment to innovation and quality in this dynamic and evolving industry. ... show more

  • 5 Stars, but......
Style: Controller only
I gave this 5 Stars, but I wanted to give it 4 because it takes external batteries. I also think it's rather expensive for a controller without internal rechargeable batteries. I actually haven't seen controllers at this price point without internal rechargeable batteries. I thought controllers with external batteries were a thing of the past, with the exception of cheap controllers of course. It seems like Amazon is trying to market Amazon Basics batteries rather than a controller, which I don't buy. That being said, it's an awesome controller and performs very well with little to no latency, or at least I didn't notice any. You can play without batteries if you don't want to keep buying them by plugging a USB C cable into the controller, and then plugging it into a charging block or portable battery pack. You can also buy rechargeable batteries, but based on all the research I've done, you won't be able to charge them while they're in the controller. You would need a separate battery charger. But I'm happy with it and it's a great controller with good weight. I'm not happy about the external batteries, but it's no biggie. I would like to see them come out with a rechargeable power pack that just snaps on the same way as the battery cover. But you'd probably have to design a whole new controller, as this is set up with prong connectors for external batteries. But you never know, maybe they'll design something new. ... show more

  • High-Quality Wired USB-C PC Controller with weird, unnecessary gimmicks
Style: Controller only
Because I've had so many mainstream controllers develop stick drift (Dual Shocks especially) I thought I'd pick this one on sale since despite its bizarre branding and even-more-bizarre lack of rechargeable battery, I didn't care about tilt and was planning on using it as a wired USB C controller anyway. And somehow it has become my go-to steam controller and hasn't let me down in a year of heavy use. And it has delivered surprisingly well. It's built up to the quality standard of flagship controllers and so far (1 year, moderate-to-heavy use) shows no sign of wear. That said, I can't possibly rate it higher (4/5 is, honestly, generous) since it's such a bizarre product that was probably engineered at quite an expense only to end up being useful only for an unintended purpose (I mean who wants a controller with no batteries to play cloud games on Luna?). + Surprisingly great build quality + Feels great in the hand + On sale at $40 if you use it as a wired controller on Steam it's quite good value. - No tilt, no built in battery - Wifi stuff seems like a gimmick and a confusing one at that. If it isn't straight snake-oil, then it's probably just overengineered waste of PCB. The weight it contributes feels nice in the hand, though. - I haven't searched for guides, but looking at it, I see zero indication of how to open it up for repair Also, side note: works great with Luna? How about you make it work great with your Amazon Games launcher. Amazon gives away tons of interesting games for free to prime members, but it's completely useless because they have abysmal controller support and half the time I jump in and find Up mapped to Left. You don't have the money to invest into supporting every controller that exists, Steam Input style, fine. But you can't even get your own controller to work? ... show more
