  • Excellent Sound
Color: Ebony
Clear, wide range, good volume. Perfect choice for those with restricted placement options. Well made and attractive - fits into any decor. Great value for the money.

  • Excellent speakers
Color: Ebony
These small bookshelf speakers look good with the grills on or off. I do realize these are just black boxes with magnetic grills, but the build quality is there. I am using these RP-500M as front channels in a 7.1 surround set up being run by a Sony str-dn1080 AVR. These are a big upgrade from the small speakers I was using. The value for money showed when my wife looked over and said "these speakers sound really good." High praise from a person that doesn't like speakers on stands in her living room. ... show more

  • Beautifully Crisp and Clear
Color: Ebony
I have a vintage Pioneer receiver that I hooked a new Fluence turntable through. My goal was to find something crisp and clear for a variety of different music styles. These are not 15s like I had in the 90s and I was not looking for that. I am not only not disappointed, I am ecstatic! These speakers deliver. They will drive hard because I just had to find out. But I'm actually listening to vintage vinyl of any era from early rock through classical and jazz. The response is absolutely amazing and the crispness that comes through simply cannot be beat. From about 20db, which is the lower limit of human hearing, through well beyond the upper limit, if your vinyl is clean, you get extremely beautiful crisp and clear output through these speakers. I highly recommend and would buy again. ... show more

  • Very quality sound.
Color: Walnut
The rp500ms are my channel a speakers to accompany my rp600ms. At such a bargain price the different cabinet colors are unnoticeable. I didn't care that the 600ms are ebony and the 500ms are walnut. You can't tell they are different finishes from the listening position, and the grills are identical when looking at them from the listening position. The 500s are what this review is about. They are going to run out of these quickly. Snatch them up while you can. They will sell out fast at the reduced price. Live records sound like you are at the concert because the cheers of the crowd and clapping is enhanced by the horn tweeters. They are very clear sounding and they are accompanied by a 10 inch subwoofer, so there is no need to force the woofers to have bass. I run without an equalizer, and my amplifier tone controls are both at zero, so these speakers don't haft to be forced to have bass and treble. With my 100 watt per channel amplifier and these speakers there is simply no need for equalizer and tone controls turned up. The only adjustment is at the subwoofer, which I do adjust in volume and crossover , as needed for each individual recording if needed, and it's not always. Get um before they are gone. I am confident that the original 600m's and 500m's are just as good sounding, if not better than the 2's. Since I have both 600's and 500's brand new, I can say they work together quite well. They don't have identical sound but they sound great together. I give 5 stars for the 500ms. I personally am not a home theater person, but a 2 channel only music and lyrics man. I'm sure they would make fine speakers for 5.1 or 7.1 surround as well. ... show more

  • Great sound for cheap(ish).
Color: Walnut
I got mine in July when the walnut cabinets were still available and use them in my living room, along with a 10" sub run from a SMSL AL200 amp. The living room is 20' x 12' and the speakers are at one end while I sit roughly 20' away. I can drive these speakers beyond the comfortable range, right into the danger zone without a problem. Way better than the bad one days with huge "3 way" speakers that couldn't take half the power and sounded half as good. These speakers are all I'll ever need. I need my music to sound decent but at 69 years old, I could spend three times this much and only detect a 5 percent improvement, if at all. These used to cost something like $400.00. They were worth that much, so at this closeout pricing they are unbeatable. ... show more

  • Good Overall Sound Quality
Color: Ebony
Recently got a pair of RP-500M's at a newer "clearance price point" to compare against a couple of my other favorite speakers - Energy RC-10 & Klipsch RP-150M. All feature ~ 5" woofers and 1" metal tweeters (titanium) in a horn, Klipsch, or (aluminum) in a waveguide on the Energy. To my ears the RP-500M's mids and treble sound SLIGHTLY more refined and detailed than through the RP-150M's. Almost a wash. If you're on the fence, the RP-150M sounds just about as good as the RP-500M's. The RP-500M's are almost the equal of the RC-10's. However, the Energy's just sound smoother and more full bodied across the musical spectrum regardless of genre. Too bad Voxx International, the parent company of both Klipsch and Energy, doesn't seem to be focused on refining/marketing the Energy brand. Again, in my opinion only, the Energy's exceed either Klipsch model regarding sound and construction quality. The RC-10's are finished in real wood veneer. Klipsch are finished with wood look vinyl. Energy RC-10's "take the cake." March, 2023 Update-I bought into the overly positive online hype and chatter surrounding the RP-600M's. Bigger is better, right? Not quite. The 600M's sound flabby and unbalanced compared to the well balanced 500M's. Promptly returned the over hyped "Speaker Of The Year" 600M's. ... show more

  • Do not believe all the Klipsch bashers, several reasons I went with these , mainly efficiency.
Color: Walnut
Good for my tube amps .(6bq5) Tube sound calms them down just fine. tube amps not that bass oriented so these have enough. We needed smaller speakers for placement options. My Wife likes them. Also they are attractive looking. Not the cheapest, plus going to need good stands, but I think I wont be looking for any more speakers. Good value. I like them. As they break in they can only improve. ... show more

  • Big sound small package
Color: Ebony
I own a set of R15s which are nice but not enough bass for music but great for TV. These RP500s have plenty of bass for my living room 20’x16’ without the need for a subwoofer. By speaker stands.
