Not as advertised, its MDF and a total piece of garbage. I bought this product, same listing from Amazon 9years ago. 9years ago it WAS solid would. Not anymore. The product is now made of MDF. We bought this in July 2019 and in 4 months three out of the four chairs have broken. Its like cardboard. The set we have from 9years ago. Excellent quality, actually solid wood and only 1 kinda broke in 9 years. A customer wrote a review stating the deception in July 2015 (4ysars before we bought ours) letting Amazon know its not “real wood” as described. In the past 4 years amazon has done nothing to make Kidkraft update their listing. What a joke!!! Its a piece of garbage, purchase only if you enjoy throwing your money away. ... show more

I researched through tons of different tables for my 3 and 2 year old. This one said it was solid wood and the reviews I read had good things to say about quality and durablility. It came down to this one or the IKEA one. I wish I would have saved myself the money and chosen the IKEA table! Lets get the facts straight, this is NOT real wood! See photo attached of one of the chairs that broke. I bought this item for the very fact it said REAL wood instead of the cheaper IKEA table. Nothing but cheap press board. And it didn't take a month before my 3 year old son sat on a chair and broke the back. Now I know that kids are hard on things but had this been real wood it would not have easily broken. Which again is why I purchased this thinking it was real and would last. I am very disappointed in this table Kid Craft is toting as real wood AND in Amazon for it's false advertising of this product. The fact that I spent so much money on a product my kids used for a month before it started breaking (we have one chair left of the set). I feel very put off about purchasing anything else from Amazon knowing that it may not come as it states on the listing for the product. To me Amazon should have known ahead of time about this product being that it was an Amazon PRIME item and shipped from their warehouse when it was purchased. Shame on you Amazon! I was disappointed with the numerous dings and dents in the wood when it arrived. There were small hard silicon beads in the box that seem to have done the damage. I have no idea why the shipper would put them in the box as they got between the wooden pieces and left numerous dents on the legs of the table and chairs. I bought this new but it looks like a second tier deal with cosmetic damage. The box had some damage as well which may account for the scratch on the table top. I bought this for my grandson and think I would have been happy with the sturdiness if it had arrived in good condition. It will be returned. ... show more

Love this product until my 16 month old sat in the chair and a huge piece of the wood broke off the back. It happened just over a month of having it and he never used it because he was too little. So obviously it's pretty poorly made. Very upsetting

I received my table and chair set today, and I am VERY pleased. It wasn’t very hard to put together, and you can feel the quality in this set. The photo I attached has my 8 year old sitting at the table, just to show size. It is perfect for toddlers and young kids.

We have two little boys that use this table every day (almost 6 months now) several time a day for anything from eating, to crafting, to playing games, and it's holding up great. They’re not unreasonably rough on it by any means, but they’re little kids, and little kids can be rough on things even when they’re not trying to be, and this set still looks really good. I previously purchased 2 kidscraft toy boxes and loved them. Bought the table and chairs and they are just as nice and well constructed as the toy chests. Color matches perfectly. My grandson is 2 1/2 yrs old and when he sits on the chair his feet sit on the floor. Perfect size and height. It was extremely easy to put together. One recommendation, if you have a socket set, use that instead of the wrench to attach the legs to the table. Saves time and your knuckles. UPDATE: Chair back fell apart just like in pictures others have posted. Went to the website (KidKraft) and am able to buy the part for $5 but we shouldn't have to buy parts so soon after purchase (their website needs serious updating, not easy to navigate). It is NOT made of wood (at least not the chair backs, they are pressed wood and easily break) ... show more

    • Quite Solid - very nice looking.
I was skeptical about this purchase, I'll be honest. I really don't like MDF, and I really don't like cheaply built stuff, but this appears to be engineered well. I built everything using just a tiny bit of wood glue for the dowels, and I can sit on the chairs (not leaning back), and I'm 6'4" / 250lbs. It went together easily, and my daughter and wife use it every day for various tea parties, etc. ... show more
