  • Opens up a new world!
I've wanted to try star gazing for a long time and am now retired and thought there's no time like the present. I wasn't sure what to look for in a telescope so I just started reading reviews and this has ended up being an excellent choice for a novice. My guy had it assembled in no time and I bought an extra Barlow lense to "stack" with the existing ones and the magnification was awesome! I'm ordering a couple of books on the constellations and I'm set. I think my grandkids are going to love this experience as much as I do and am thinking of getting them one of their own. I highly recommend this product! ... show more

  • Good for viewing the moon and planets
This is an easy to assemble telescope. Once setup I used the moon as a point of reference to adjust the finder scope then moved to Jupiter and Saturn. I could see Saturn and it’s fine as well as the moons (bright dots) orbiting Jupiter. This easily shows the details of the moons with its craters. The moon moves out of view fairly quickly along with the planets so adjustment is necessary. ... show more

  • Telescope decent, Mount and tripod garbage.
The Telescope it self is decent. The mount and Tripod are bad, very, very bad. The mount does not have any horizontal controls at all, just a locking screw. this is a major issue because to track distant objects you need fine control in Two directions, vertical and horizontal. It would take the steadiness of a surgeons hands to even keep a object in view in the horizontal. Add to that the Shaky tripod trying to view anything other than the moon becomes a aggravating situation. Vertical movement is Meh. Mount does have a fine adjusting screw but has no stop point allowing you to unscrew the vertical rod and potentially flip the entire unit or slam the telescope into the mount. When trying to align on a object it is very possible to disconnect the vertical adjustment since the screw threads are only a inch or so long. Large movement in the Vertical are also lack luster as the rod tends to bind making you to wiggle the rod to get it unstuck for some movement before it binds again. Tripod allows to much movement of the mount and telescope, it is not stable. Again this is something that will impact deep space observations. I was able to see Saturn and the rings in the wide view lens but due to all the problems above I was never able to change lens to get a closer view due to all the movement issues. This setup is good for viewing the Moon and nature, but little else. ... show more

  • Awesome Starter, worth the price!
I bought this telescope for my family. Our kids and I are novice We live pretty out there in the woods so we get a great view of the sky. First the telescope came in a storage/carrying case and was pretty easy to take out with its tripod. What amazed us was the 3 eyepieces in one that was easily rotated. Didn't have to remove any eyepieces like our last telescope. My little ones loved it when we focused in on the moon. The highlight was the smartphone adapter which really interested our teenage son. He attached his smartphone to the telescope and we were able to see through the camera in big screen and the kicker...we were able to take pictures and video everything we looked at. This telescope is perfect for us! ... show more

  • Not worth the price
Stand is very flimsy as it adjustment rod mounts on side of telescope itself

  • Better
This is a reflecting telescope which is also called a reflector and it uses a single or combination of curved mirrors to reflect light and form an image. This has stronger light-gathering ability with no chromatic aberration versus a refracting telescope so you can view deep sky celestial bodies. The scene you see will be upside down and will meet your needs for uptight imaging. They have added a 1.5x magnification upright image Barlow lens and a 20mm erecting eyepiece. This is perfect for beginners or more advanced telescope users ... show more

  • Shakey but great magnification
I love the different eye pieces and I have been able to see saturn, jupiter, Mars, moon. Focusing is difficult due to the shaking when touching the telescope. The 5X zoom is great for the moon. Anything else will move out of view too quickly. If you want a closer view of the planets, I recommend the electronic ones with a heavier base. These will follow the planet or stars as the Earth moves. The negative thing about this telescope is the finderscope. It is too difficult to adjust to get it right on target. I had to use a plastic to lift it to almost get it right. Otherwise it is a decent telescope. ... show more
