I should have read more carefully; I expected glass. Still, these are nice for keeping a drink cold, and I imagine that glass would not tolerate the freezer as well as plastic.

Have 2 of these for over a month now and use them almost daily so they have many cycles in the freezer. They work great. Once the drink is in the glass it takes about 5 minutes to get really cold. But then it stays cold until drank. It may handle a refill but I like to have 2 glasses and I rotate them for each drink. So I always have a fresh frozen glass to use. We purchased the pint glasses like this and really loved them so we decided to try these as well. We’ve only used them about 3 times so far. We bought them to sip our Old Fashions out of over the summer and love how cold it keeps our drink. However, while I was hand washing them this time, I saw that the bottom has cracked in a starburst pattern 😞 (see picture) This makes me so sad because we haven’t used them much, we take gentle care of them, and the summer just started. I’m hoping that if I contact the manufacturer, they’ll send me a replacement. ... show more

Some reviewers don't seem to understand the concept of surface area, thermal transmissivity, and how it all works in cooling/keeping a beverage cool. Pouring a room-temperature liquid into these will not make the liquid ice-cold, nor should it be expected to. Use ice for that. The plastic is thick on the outside and thin on the inside, and if the gel inside is frozen, it will keep a cold drink cold for _far_ longer than a glass even as the outside comes up to room temperature. Have had 4 of these for years and use them all the time. Have not seen any discoloration as some other reviewers have noted, but mine are used primarily for whiskey -- it's certainly possible that some other drinks might discolor the plastic. ... show more
