  • Buyer beware look at the picture! It is SOOO SMALL!
This is in no way worth it at all. Go to be prepared and I never thought I'd say that dot com or because their 2.5 pounds in a number 10 can cost less per ounce than this stuff I thought this would be a bit bigger so I put in a pack of cigarettes next to the package to show you how absolutely tiny this is! It is not worth it! You're better off going to a big Box store buying butter in bulk and canning it into jars! I am not kidding I have no other words I'm shaking my head and saying buyer beware The with height and depth of this product in a cube is the height with and breath of a pack of cigarettes plus 1" standing ... The long cigarets 99 they're called Wow. ... show more

  • Great as Flavoring for Popcorn.
Just finished 7 more cases of popped popcorn this time with Hoosier Hill Farms Butter Powder. Not exactly sure what others use the butter powder for however I can say it made this popped popcorn mighty tasty. There is zero risk of it going bad, considering the final bags are being shipped to 174 Marines Serving in the ME. ... show more

  • Found lots of uses
I bought a pound of this 2 years ago to make backpacking meals. I was surprised at the quantity and thought it would go rancid before I could use it up. Much to my surprise I’ve almost used it up and it’s great stuff. I use it to make my own bisquick type mix on the rare occasions I want it - all natural and no bad fats. I’ve also added it to soups and breads to make them richer. It’s great stuff. Now I’m going back to the Grand Canyon this year I’ll be buying more. ... show more

  • Yes, you can use this in coffee!
If you are wondering whether you can use this to make butter/bulletproof coffee, you absolutely can! I use a couple scoops of this and some mct oil, it incorporates much better than solid butter. I can also keep it in the coffee station instead of trekking to the fridge. I use a hand blender to get a good froth going, it tastes wonderful. ... show more

  • I really like this brand of Salted Butter Powder. ALLERGY WARNING POSTED
I really like this brand of butter powder. Rainy Day Butter Powder , (to be referred to from now on as R.D.) which I purchased first, is a 3 star. This smells like butter (R.D. has an off-putting scent). More concentrated than R.D., I can use almost 1/2 the amount I was with R.D. This makes the creamiest, tastiest instant mashed potatoes. Into 1 cup of Idahoan Mashed Potato Flakes , stir 2 spoonfuls each of Hoosier Hill Farm Butter Powder and Peak Dry Whole Milk Powder . Stir in salt & pepper. Finally, stir in 2 cups boiling water. You won't believe how great the mashed potatoes will be. This makes into a tasty butter spread, which will firm up even more in the refrigerator (the R.D. wouldn't.) It reminds me of whipped butter. I use the spread on pop tarts, toast, pastry, muffins, cornbread, freshly baked bread, potatoes, rolls, cooked vegetables, stuffing, biscuits, for making cinnamon toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, pancakes, waffles, and meat (especially if I'm going to microwave it) to help keep it moist besides the great flavor...the list goes on. The published 1:1 ratio may be misleading...If you look where that is posted, its on the recipe information. I 'believe' that ratio is for when a recipe calls for butter. So for 1 tbs. butter use: 1 tbs. butter powder + 1 tbs. water/liquid. That is not the ratio for making butter spread. I did read on another brand of butter powder to use 3 tbs. butter powder to 1 tsp. water (in layman's terms that is 9 parts measured butter powder to 1 part water). Will have to try that next time I mix some up. I normally just mix it to the consistency I want. Little looser for topping mashed potatoes, and a little thicker for spreading. Great sprinkled on freshly popped popcorn, stopping that hot melted butter from deflating the popped kernels. Or getting greasy hands/fingers. No more having to continually wipe your hands before handling the remote control to zap through TV commercials. One thing I have noticed, is you need to add this to the popped kernels before completely salting them. Otherwise this salted butter powder will add even more salt to your perfectly salted popcorn, and you may end up with really salty, buttery popcorn. Truthfully, I can't believe the differences between the 2 brands. I expect the smell to be a little different between brands, no different than dairy case butter brands have different scents, but this doesn't make my stomach churn (excuse the pun). I no longer have mashed potatoes that smell disgusting. I think this would make just about anyone happy that doesn't have access to a store (or cow, goat, etc...). • Tastes great
I bought this to use as a popcorn seasoning, and I couldn't be happier. No more clarifying butter or margarine or buying artificial flavor butter oil to have butter on my popcorn, now I can sprinkle butter on with no trouble. Hoosier Hill Farm Butter powder does tend to cake when you use a spoon, but I found that using a fork to sprinkle the powdered butter works great. So now I don't have to worry about buying a dredger to sprinkle the powdered butter with. I will recommend Hoosier Hill Farm Butter powder to all my friends and family. ... show more

  • I'm Impressed
Great product for camping and for the 'doom sayers' that are stocking up their supplies. To get the consistency of 'whipped butter' it is 3 parts powder to 1 part water, but is great for buttering toast, making garlic bread, etc powder also blends in well when butter is called for in a recipe. I will continue to keep this in my pantry. ... show more

  • Buying local pays off
I chose these specifically because not only are they an American company, but right in my own state. If you make bread, from scratch or in a bread maker, adding a 1/4 cup of butter powder to the dough gives the bread a wonderful flavor. I make bread 2 to 4 times a week, and this is now a standard ingredient. I never make any type of bread without it (I sub 1/4 cup butter powder for 1/4 cup flour and haven't had to add any additional water, but I'd advise doing a little experimenting on your own recipes). ... show more
