I bought this detector as an upgrade from my ACE 250 I have had for almost a decade. This detector is an upgrade in EVERY WAY from my old one. The detection depth is amazing and the ability to detect small items is greatly improved. The ability to exclude signals and to deal with interference is also greatly improved. This detector can of course and be used in the water as well which is a whole separate level of fun. The wireless headphones that can also sync with your pinpointer are also amazing especially since the tones are loud when you don't have them turned down or connected to the headphones. It has a backlit screen which makes hunting at night MUCH easier. I would say that this is a detector for beginners because there is a bit of a learning curve with the signal numbers and interference selections. It is not really a turn on a swing over the ground detector like the 250 was there is a bit more to it. ... show more

This metal detector is awesome, everything I was looking for and more! Wasn’t expecting to find as much as I did on my first outing but oh my, what a haul! Although I’ve always been interested in metal detecting, this is my first buy. It's quite easy to learn all features but the signalling needs longer time. Still don't know how to distinguish iron and other metals so digging a lot of can taps. It needs a training but the device itself is great. Also sensitivity of the pointer is great, all looks good and solid. Tried in a water and it works also well. ... show more

The AT Max is a great detector. I've only had for a month, so I am still learning the machine. But, I have already found a few coins and that has really given me the fever. I just wish the weather was better, so I would get out with it more.
