I’m going to apologize in advance if I get carried away or ramble on but I can’t say enough for how fantastic this is. whether you are looking for a gift for someone else or yourself, young or old, you will knock it out of the park. if you can manage to find this on a sale or deal like I did then it is a no-brainer one would assume that if you are reading this review that you are already familiar with how the device works but I’ll give a quick rundown just to show it easy it is - slide the power switch to turn it on, point the camera at what you want a memory of, and it spits out a small instant picture when you press the shutter that you can see the results after about two minutes (over-simplification? massively but you get the point) I can’t speak to the functionality of the original polaroid cameras (other than they were quite large) but I do appreciate that this camera comes with different modes depending on if you want to do selfie/macro/wide shoots/etc along with lightening or darkening the shot. these take a little practice to get exactly right but that’s part of the charm, playing around and seeing what you get. since I bought this I haven’t had to swap out the batteries yet so I can’t speak to that (does take a specialty battery so I suggest having backups) but I am very impressed with the build of this for the price point. the blue/metal color looks great and gets so many compliments, it has a nice weight to it without feeling like you are lugging something around all day. even comes with a neckstrap to keep it safe and secure (I prefer to just toss it in my bag personally). the only knock that I will give this is that the viewfinder doesn’t seem to be in a very logical position. having the shutter button on the right side of the camera it makes sense in my mind that you would have the viewfinder of the left (because also most people tend to use their right eye). I had read another review that had mentioned it but it didn’t strike me as how odd it was until I was actually holding it for myself. full disclosure - I am not a professional photographer by any stretch of the imagination so I can’t speak to the technical side of things as far as aperature and all those things. it’s a blast and a half that fits in your hand ... show more

Bought this camera for an upcoming trip to Hawaii, but it’s so versatile that I’ve already used it pretty extensively. Picture quality is great for the price, just ensure that you don’t flinch or move or else the image will be incredibly blurry. I’ll also note that pictures tend to be pretty cool, but you can definitely get them a bit warmer with adequate lighting. This is essentially a point-and-click camera with instant payoff. I find the film to be fairly priced and a much better deal than Polaroid film. Polaroid films might be bigger, but I actually appreciate the pocket-sized square films of this camera because they’re easier to store and organize. All in all, I can’t recommend this camera enough for people just entering the world of instant cameras and people who want to experiment with the multiple picture modes and filters that come included with the camera. The self-timer is so easy to use for group photos and it’s perfectly sized for travel, not too bulky and it comes with a comfy neck strap. If you’re still torn on which camera to buy, I don’t think you’ll find anything easier or as high-quality for the price as this one! ... show more

Absolutely thrilled with this decision! Bought a few weeks ago in anticipation of my boyfriend’s birthday next month and also because I just wanted a fun way to make some instant memories and this was just the thing I needed. After comparing several instant cameras, I came to the decision that the Square 6 was the perfect blend of accessibility and vintage charm. As pictured, there are a variety of photo settings that are designed to be simple enough to choose from and use without having to engineer your own exposure or focus and it feels so simple a child could use it which I love. The shutter button is on the front of the camera about an inch and a half under the viewfinder which has a small circle chiseled into the glass so you can center your subject instead of estimating, a very elegant solution to the viewfinder being in the far corner of the device so you don’t have to struggle to frame the shots. The photos are a bit smaller than I thought but I don’t dislike that because they develop beautifully, display adorably and are small enough to be given out as mementos if you want. Photo pack went into the slot perfectly and I had no issues with jamming or development. I really think the reviews complaining about how the pictures come out didn’t consider the actual purpose of buying an instant camera. If what you want is perfectly crisp, perfectly balanced photos, look elsewhere! This is a wonderful camera for nostalgia, sharing and learning how to thoughtfully capture the things you care about on film. I bought a sweet little leather case for it and 2 20 packs of film and have been having so much fun snapping photos and figuring out where to display them around the apartment! Best $80 I’ve spent in a while and absolutely an experience in and of itself! ... show more

One of the best I tried. Functions are amazing, although it would be nice to be able to use them simultaneously, for example, use landscape mode and overexposure at the same time. The square format looks great, once you get a good idea on how to compose in this format, it is simply wonderful. Even though this is an older model, it was recommended to me and I feel it is still the best square format camera from Fuji. If you get a good deal, do not hesitate on getting one. ... show more
