They are not kidding about the catnip being fresh from the field. This stuff is great and my cats love it. The container is stuffed to the top with catnip and it is obviously very fresh. They choose this brand over the Yeowww brand as well, nothing against them but this stuff seems fresher and a bit higher quality. I also have to leave it in the bag it came in because my cats will attack the container, one of them will even carry it around with him when he wants some. the product arrived quickly and it was not spilled (that was my concern). It does not come with shrink wrap on it so that may happen to you. In any way, the product doesn't look super fresh (yellow and very dry) but MY CAT LOVES IT, so whatever! :)
