Description

The toddler 1460 is where rebellious style meets small proportions. It's a scaled-down version of our classic 8-eye boot in Softy T leather for wee ones. Dr. Martens is the stuff of legends. It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460. To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history.

  • Everything you’d expect!
Special Size Type: Little Kid (4-8 Years) Size: 3 Little Kid Color: Black Patent Lamper
We bought these as an add-on for a Wednesday Addams costume and they’ve ended up being a daily staple for our little one. She doesn’t go anywhere without them and they are so comfortable!!! They’ve held up really well - I’d absolutely recommend for a first pair of Docs!

  • Great looking, good price but certainly NOT like the UK made Docs
Special Size Type: Little Kid (4-8 Years) Size: 3 Little Kid Color: Black Patent Lamper
Although these boots are made by Dr. Marten and they bear the familiar logo and stitching; these are NOT in fact, the Doc Martens that I remember saving up to buy in the mid to late 80's; the Docs I was finally able to afford in every style I wanted in the mid 90's not the Dr. Marten's children's boots I bought for my daughters in 2000-2004. The boots and shoes of those decades were made in the UK as they had always been but the boots that are being sold now have the same logo, same label and the same soles as always except that these new Dr. Marten's boots are now made in China and it shows. It's sad to see these iconic shoes that have always been as English as Monty Python, Bank Holidays, and Yorkshire Puddings being outsourced. Well, on to my review of these "made in China" Doc Marten boots: They look very nice as I had expected, just like the DM patent leather boots I had for about 8 years except for the zipper on the side (at the time of ordering I was aware that these boots had this zipper) I'm only mentioning it because I'm making a comparison between the patent leather doc Martens from the past versus these new ones. I do realize that these shoes are made for young kids or tweens; I am an adult and I order them because I'm small enough to fit into the biggest children size boot. The price is very reasonable and as I said they do look very nice. They are comfortable, and though I don't find it aesthetically pleasing, the zipper becomes handy when you come home and are way too tired to undo the laces. With regards to durability, I honestly do not see these boots lasting for years and years as the original UK-Made boots used to. The quality seems to be good, not excellent; the materials seem to be just good enough but definitely not on par with the quality and durability one would associate with the DM name and logo which is why I am giving it a three star rating. Final verdict: A Good enough boot for the money but definitely not the traditional DM quality. ... show more

  • Not meant for chunky toddler feet
Special Size Type: Toddler (1-4 Years) Size: 7 Toddler Color: Black Softy T
Good luck getting your kiddos feet into the boot if they have wide feet. Other than that their great quality. Sad that I will have to return them

  • Definitely need to stretch these out before they use them
Special Size Type: Toddler (1-4 Years) Size: 8 Toddler Color: Black Softy T
Size up. The entry into these is pretty tight even with the zipper and the laces completely loose. Once he is in them they fit great but getting them on as the chore. It's easy to forget when you're not wearing a shoe but all docs need broken in do your kid a favor and stretch them out

  • Very Cute, But Watch the Kids Sizing
My niece loved these. Just pay attention to the size online. A Kids 2 is a 2 for boys and a 3 for girls. I didn't know this until I first purchased a kids 3. The box came with an image of a boy (size 3) and a girl (size 4).
