Description

Cole Haan gives the perennially preppy penny-loafer an update with modern lines and a driving heel. The perennial preppy favorite gets modern appeal in Cole Haan's Howland loafer. In full-grain leather with a traditional monk strap and penny slot, Howland is offered a contemporary touch by the driving shoe-inspired heel-wrapping rubber sole for premium grip when you put the pedal to the metal. As equally at ease on the road as it is at home, Howland promises sophisticated loafing in any setting. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); With nearly 80 years in the business and hundreds of points of distribution in the U.S., Cole Haan is one of America's premier luxury brands. Founded in 1928 as a collaboration between Trafton Cole and Eddie Haan, Cole Haan epitomized artisan quality and impeccable craftsmanship during a time when style was everything. Originally, Cole Haan was a men's footwear label that captured the essence of the 20s spirit with beautifully-designed and well-made shoes for the dapper gentleman. Today, Cole Haan brings that heritage to all of its products, including men's and women's dress and casual footwear, belts, hosiery, handbags, small leather goods, outerwear and sunglasses. • Nice pair of shoes. Leather is a quality look and feel. Vinyl inside??
Size: 8 Color: Saddle Tan
These are nice shoes and I kept them and wear them often now... The issue I want to make you aware of is that in the interior, from your instep to the toe-box has a vinyl/plastic liner. I am sure this is so the shoe will hold its shape..? There in lay the issue. It does not give, so if you they are snug, they will continue to remain snug. Fortunately I have wooden shoe trees that I tapped further in daily for several days. I suggest that anyone that has never used shoe stretchers, not attempt this method because one tap to much and you will split the seam. After the shoe molded to the stretchers (Warm hairdryer a little everyday to help mold the vinyl) they are well worth the money. Especially if you catch them on sale as I was lucky enough to find them. ... show more

  • Beautiful Shoe but No Success with Fit
I really, really wanted to be able to wear these shoes. The leather is high quality and beautiful. The tan (not to be confused with the "saddle tan" which is slightly darker) has a beautiful reddish glow. The whole shoe feels well made. And they were $50 off so I wanted them to fit even more. Alas, it was not to be. I'm a solid 6.5 in length and a borderline D / E in width (usually D in sneakers and E in dress shoes). I read in the reviews that these shoes run narrow so I started with a 6.5 E (aka 6.5 "W"). The 6.5 E was perfect in length and ok in width but, bizarrely, the "height" of the toebox wasn't high enough. My foot was squeezed up against the uppers. I could barely believe it but when I searched the reviews I found another reviewer who had the exact same experience... the shoes were too "thin" (not narrow) for me. I tried a 7 D (aka 7 "M") next. It was pure torture. Even at half a size too long the width was way too narrow. These shoes *really* run narrow. Last I tried the 7 E. They were out 7 Es in "tan" so I got these in "saddle tan" which was subtly darker and not quite as nice to me. I think I got an "off" pair. The right foot fit perfect but the left foot (even though it was stamped "7 W" inside) was way too narrow - it felt like the 7 Ds. I could have tried another pair of 7 Es but at this point I've given up. I've returned all 3 pairs (Amazon's return process has been excellent as always) and I plan to move up market to the Allan Edmonds "Ventura Hwy". They cost twice as much but it's hard to get a good fit on men's loafers when you have small, wide feet - and honestly, what's the point of a pair of loafers that aren't comfortable? So if your feet are narrow and "thin" I highly recommend this shoe - especially if you can get them on sale for $100. The tan is just beautiful. Goes perfect with blue denim. If you have wide / "thick" feet then you might want to give the wides a try but be prepared to return. And if you're a 6.5 E and you've found the perfect comfortable loafer then please leave me a comment and let me know what it is! ;-D ... show more

  • Beautiful Shoe very narrow
I need to start out by saying I love amazon prime (more to come). I fell in love with the looks of this shoe and ordered my standard Cole Haan size of 12 in saddle tan. I was so excited to get these shoes I upgraded to next day shipping. When they arrived the next day I tore into the box like a kid at Christmas. The shoe is beautiful great leather, great color, sturdier than I expected from a driver, but I thought they looked a bit long. I put them on an they looked like skies on my feet. I'm used to a moccasins/loafers fitting fairly close, but these went a good inch and a half past the end of my toe. The length also made the shoe gape a bit more than normal around my insole but I was not discouraged. Since they were so big I exchanged them for an 11 (free 2nd day shipping). Same beautiful shoe... very tight the length was just about right maybe a touch short, but my toes weren't touching. So now I'm goldilocks saying to myself that the third bed will be just right (11.5). Alas no. I put them on and needed to wedge them on with my shoe horn only to stand up and feel like my feet were going to pop. I tried thins socks... no socks... no show socks, but they were just too tight. I have never experienced this with a Cole Haan shoe. I own at least 4 pair of Cole Haan loafers as well as dress boots and oxfords... every pair fit very well in a 12D. I can't tell you how bad I wanted to own this shoe (I even kept them a few days and tried them on in the morning before me feet swelled), but it just wasn't meant to be. But thank you amazon for the seamless first experience with buying shoes from your site. The returns/exchanges were processed promptly and I actually feel bad that they had to pay all that shipping cost. Well I'm still on the hunt for my summer driver. Cole Haan Men's Howland Penny Loafer One year later. Ok I know I went on about returning these shoes, but I just couldn't do it. I kept them, and they killed my feet most of the summer (once a week). Then finally they stretch out enough to actually be comfortable. Now when I slip them on they are snug (not uncomfortable), but they loosen up throughout the day. ... show more
