Hello, I’ve purchased this tablet a while ago. I’m well aware it’s not an iPad and I don’t mind at all! If you’re interested in saving money this is perfect! I’ve updated the old preface layout to a more modern android look. I wanted my tablet to have an easier and more accessible feature. I’ve installed google play and kept a few amazon applications. You’re able to make some adjustments to it. I have more storage now! I want to be able to use it with a gaming emulator. I’m thinking about purchasing another one as well. I purchased a brand new Fire Tablet HD8 four months ago. It quit charging. When I called I was told the warranty was 90 days! This was not one of the basic tablets, it cost $89.99. I called several repair shops and they basically said they weren’t worth fixing. After begging Amazon for a resolution, I was given a credit so I could purchase another one. It didn’t cover the cost of new so I got a refurbished one, also a 90 day warranty…I have older tablets that work fine and are several years old. Tablet as a piece of equipment seemed fine... But consider what OS you want. I didn't realize how restrictive this would be as you are limited to the Amazon app store. I mainly wanted a tablet for my son to listen to audiobooks on (not through an Amazon provider). I was disappointed first to find it preloaded with apps, including the kid account. I had specifically ordered an adult tablet to avoid that. Whoops! Did find how to hide them at least. But then 1 of our 2 reading apps was not offered (Libby). Overdrive was, but the app version was a mess (I've only used the desktop version before) & I couldn't get it to load to the kids version, nor would the child account allow books to download or play, no matter what permissions I tried to allow. The only way I could have used it would be to let him use the adult profile... Which has ads & tons of preloaded content. No thanks! Returned it for a regular android tablet. Lesson learned! ... show more

This came in well protected. You cant tell from the picture, but the tablet is in a protective plastic slip inside of a plastic pocket attached to the piece of cardboard that was unmovable. This tablet had a safe ride to me. You also can't tell the proper color from the picture, but it is an ocean blue, which is perfect because irlts for my ex-navy husband, and there's not so much as a scratch on it. When I turned it on to check the screen, I noticed that I received it it was at 67% charged. The only downside is it is a different charger than the other household kindles we have, but the usb charger and connector were supplied, so there's no problems. ... show more

I love this tablet. It works great. Good screen quality and battery life. Only complaint... I HATE the "dashboard". I don't use Alexa. The dashboard is always trying to load at inopportune moments (yes, because I accidentally touch it). Can't you make it where it can be disabled?! I was going to buy some DVD players for the kids to watch movies on a long road trip, and decided to go with these instead. I found them to be perfectly up to the task with sufficient memory to download multiple movies for amazon prime and netflix. They may be refurbished, but they worked like new and honestly I am not sure they were new. The touch screens are not the best, and the screen resolution is on the lower end, but what a great bang for your buck! This is simply a media tablet. Mostly amazon products at that. Books, videos and such. Music is ok on it i guess. Haven't even tried playing a game on it. It seems to run rather sluggish as well but that might be cause i bought a refurbished one. In short, if your looking for a tablet to do anything besides amazon related media look elsewhere.
