I have been chicken keeping for 17 years. I recently came across a hen who decided to start eating eggs. After some research, I found that using a ceramic egg would stop this behavior. This product fits that bill. The egg is hard ceramic and will last you a lifetime. The hen started picking on this egg and after a week, the behavior stopped. We are new to raising chickens and had no idea you had to train them to lay eggs without pecking them. These worked perfectly! After two days our chickens stopped pecking and eating their own eggs.     • So lifelike, they fooled the ravens!
I actually bought these nest eggs to deter ravens from enjoying my chicken eggs. These ceramic eggs are very lifelike, from the weight and size to the color and finish. Ravens have been raiding my chicken coop and now they have stolen 3 out of 4 of these nest eggs. I also bought a set of wooden eggs and those were too lightweight and too shiny compared to these. These worked great until my chickens decided to just peck at any that weren't this color. At least they don't peck at the brown eggs anymore!

I added these into nesting boxes to encourage my young hens to lay in them. These worked like a charm. I did add a black dot so I could tell which were the fake eggs!
