  • You can't go wrong with GigaParts and their customer service. Buy with confidence!
Great product. Very easy to use. A heads up to anyone new to the hobby, you will need an upgraded power supply. Something that can put out 20ish amps otherwise when you key up the radio or try to tune it the radio will trip due to over current issues. Be sure to order a quality power supply. Only thing I can say that would maybe take a half a star away from the radio would be the built in tuner. It's only going to do 3:1 so if you're trying to tube a coat hanger or some other odd wire you will need an external tuner. Otherwise great radio and gigaparts was fantastic. Mike is awesome. When FedEx was a couple days behind their initial quote for when it would be delivered Mike looked into it right away and responded to my email very quickly. Can not recommend GigaParts enough! Thanks Mike!! ... show more

  • Simply the Best HF Radio in its Class!
This is, without a doubt, the best radio in its price range. The amazing receiver, touch screen, waterfall display, feature set and ease of use place it several levels above competitor's radios. It is actually in the same performance class as radios costing 2-3x as much. Under the hood it is a direct sampling "software defined radio" that is cleverly packaged to have familiar knobs plus a very friendly touch screen. The front end converts the signal to digits right up front and the amplification, filtering and other functions are all done in software. This makes it exceptionally quiet versus a traditional analog radio and also makes it very flexible. It also means you can operate in conditions that would otherwise be too noisy. Some of my favorite features: - Very good receiver - an order of magnitude quieter than most entry level ones and comparable to units at 3x the price - The waterfall/scope display is a game changer - signals are visible across the band and you can tune by touching the one you want. Waterfall display can also be customized in dozens of ways. - The filters (NR, NB, Notch) actually work well and are all completely configurable (just hold the button down) - The touch screen is very easy to use and actually well designed for ease of use - The physical knobs/buttons are also well positioned and intuitive to use - Everything is configurable - the waterfall display, the filtering, transmit and receive contouring, etc... - Can be USB controlled and also you can do digital modes with your computer without a separate box - It does have a built in antenna tuner, though the tuner is only for about 3:1 SWR - Good sound and voice pickup - even with the standard speaker/mic Given the huge number of features, you would think it would be hard to learn/use but you can actually master most of the settings after just a few days of using it and a few google searches. I had my first contact within a few minutes of setting it up and was able to figure out the key features within a few hours. After owning it for a while I'm seriously thinking of getting a second one for portable/field use as it is pretty compact and light and you can't beat the price/performance at this time. The main competitor for the 7300 at this time is the Yaesu 991A, but the 7300 has a better receiver and also is ahead in ease of use in my opinion. ... show more
