  • An impressive little machine!
Style: Remote Deflector Size: 208cc
I am posting this review having used my snowblower one time. I will update this review on the durability of this snow blower after I've used it for a season. 1) Overall Quality - The overall quality of this machine seems quite good. It comes in a big box - the auger, impeller and drive mechanism are fully assembled with the assembly process being to attach the handlebars and chute (and route the control cable and light wiring). The overall fit and finish of this blower is quite good. It is made in China, but it's difficult to find an american built snowblower these days. 2) Assembly - I did not find this to be very difficult. If you're familiar with working on power equipment, it should go fairly easily. I have a fair amount of professional mechanical experience. The only challenge to assembly is the correct routing of the chute control cable. 3) Initial startup and use - The engine comes with oil in it. The engine manual states that you must check the oil level - mine was perfectly fine. I added fuel to the tank and hit the electric starter button. The engine fired up immediately in an off beat putter which settled immediately to a smooth idle as I turned the choke off. The choke is a red plastic knob that feels a little flimsy - I'd probably avoid using it with heavy gloves for fear of breaking it. I drove the machine around my driveway a few times and noticed that the transmission seemed to be slipping slightly. I noticed that the drive cable did not seem to be very tight so I adjusted the drive cable and went around my driveway again - no further slippage was noted. 4) Overall useability - I think this machine will do a great job for my small driveway. It is important to keep in mind that this machine has only a 24" swath. If you have a massive driveway, this machine isn't going to work. Also, if you live in an area of steep hills, the friction drive transmission will probably prove fragile if you try to take full swaths while climbing hills. Lastly, this machine does not have differential steering. You turn this machine by skidding one tire. It's a small machine, but it does take a little bit of brawn to move the thing around a tight corner. 5) Overall rating - I rate this machine as 5 stars because I really like it. I've yet to have a big snow, but I was able to clean up a few icy mounds on my driveway and this machine absolutely hurled the slushy mess 20-40 feet out of the way. I think it's well made with a few design limitations that I was aware of when I purchased it. I'll follow up with a comment in a few months on how this machine holds up. ... show more

  • Very happy with this snow blower.
Style: Remote Deflector Size: 208cc
I would highly recommend this machine. I found the assembly relatively easy....and I have no mechanical abilities. The snow blower started right up and runs very well, very quiet but powerful at the same time. I like the placement of the controls and the fact there is no external crank sticking out of the side of the machine for the directional control of the snow shute....makes it easier to store as well. The light which comes on automatically is also a great feature during night snow blowing. I think the optional electric/pull start is a fantastic feature and wish my old blower had that, especially when i pulled the cord to start my old one during a blizzard and it and snapped off due to wear. The machine itself seem solid and well made. The only cautionary comment would be to make sure the unit has oil before starting it and using it. My machine was shipped with oil, but apparently could have been shipped without it as well.....so check the dip stick before starting for the first time and look at it carefully because the fill line is very small and hard to see at first. ... show more

  • Great snow blower, clears packed, slushy snow. Just do your research on price before buying.
Style: Remote Deflector Size: 208cc
First, let me just give a general tip to everyone looking to buy this snowblower, and others at any random time. Do your PRICE RESEARCH! For some reason, prices vary on this particular thrower by a LOT. MSRP on this is 729 USD. When i bought it (weekend that Snowzilla, aka mid-atlantic blizzard of 2016 that dumped over 2 feet of snow in the DC area), it was sold by Amazon for 679 USD. It's sold in the past for as little as 649. However, within a few days of the blizzard, the price went up to 749, then 840, and now 979 as i type this. I urge my fellow consumers to not allow such blatant price gauging to be rewarded. This machine is fantastic, but you shouldn't have to pay 250 dollars above the MSRP. Now, about the machine itself. setup wasn't too bad, i wasn't familiar with snow blowers, so it took me a few minutes to know what the heck they were referring to when they mentioned different cables that needed to be attached. But after i put it together, i put it to a test with some packed 2 foot high (and higher) piles of snow in front of my house. This snow had been melting a bit over the week since the blizzard, so it was packed and slushy. This baby churned through it like a champ. I had to go a bit slower, back it up, go again, in order for it to get through, but it made it through. I'm sure that when i get to use this on fresh powdery snow it will be even easier. the only complaint i have is that it's hard to turn it. The wheels don't spin independently, so you kind of have to drag it around to turn it. Other than that though, i've extremely pleased with it. P.S. for those that never heard of this, there's a website called camelcamelcamel dot com (yes, "camel" 3 times). COpy and paste the Amazon URL of the product you want, and it will show you the price over the last 6 months or so. Very handy. ... show more
