  • Best compact android phone on the market. Asus Wins!
NOTE: This phone DOES work with AT&T as that's the service I have. So im just going to talk about the 2 main features of this phone that I love, that were the reasons for my buying this in the first place. (Size, Fingerprint reader) The first one being the small form factor. This was the main reason for me getting this phone as I have smaller hands and find it difficult to text one handed on larger phones. The phone also feels very nice to hold in the hand and my thumb can finally reach any part of the screen again. Having this in my pocket when I go out, I barely notice it is there. Win The second being the physical fingerprint reader. I am one of those people suspicious of the face unlock so I prefer a fingerprint reader. After I upgrade to the Oneplus 8 from the Oneplus 6 I didnt know how much I missed it until it was gone. I cook a lot so its a pain trying to get a in-screen fingerprint reader to register when I have water or have flour on my hands. This physical reader is super reliable and quick, it unlocks the first time every time. The placement of it is also really well thought out, as instead of it being on the back of the phone its on the side, which is one less step for my fingers to unlock the phone. Win So the battery wasnt one of the things I was looking for but I have to mention how incredible it is. The phone really does sip battery. After charging to 100% it can handle regular use all day and still be at around 70% or better, its great. It also has fast charging so getting back up to 100 takes no time at all. Win Finally I just want to point out some other things this phone has that I love: Headphone jack. Win Gimbal Camera. Win Dual Speakers. Win Nice Display. Win If you are looking for anything that I pointed out in a phone look no further. Buy this phone as you will not be disappointed. Any review that is hating on this phone is either from user error or lack of due diligence with researching what they were buying. This really is a solid smartphone in 2022. ... show more

  • Awesome compact android phone
Color: Red Configuration: 8GB Digital Storage Capacity: 128 GB Connectivity Technology: 5G LTE
My two cents 1. Small form factor. Nice to hold 2. Great battery life. Last almost 2 days for me, regular use. 3. Great look! 4. Fingerprint reader is blazing fast and accurate 5. Speakers are ok, not to loud but good. There's an option to (really) increase the volume in open places 6. Nice display. Fast 7. High-end specs 8. I have not played much with the cameras, but for me are fine. The Gimbal image and video stabilization is pretty cool. If you tweak a little bit with the gcam soft you can get some really nice photos 9. Stock Android (without bloatware) with ZenUI I got the 8/128 US version in red. Working with Cricket. No issue. 4G+/5G. The shipping was very fast with Mobile Advance The included case is nice but too slippery, I purchased a soft gel-clear-case (cover/protect the 2 cameras) and 3 tempered glass screen protectors Sometimes I don't understand people, they complain about everything, no matter what. I have even read people complaining that this phone has very high specs (WTF??) or it only has 2 cameras (Do you really think that if it has 10 cameras it's better?) Anyway, I think this is a great phone, more than enough for most people. Snapdragon 8+ Gen, nice looking, great size, 120Hz screen, 2 BIG cameras (50MP/4k/8k), Android 13. Let's see what happens in the long term ... show more

  • Okay Phone, Definitely Not Perfect
I've had my Zenphone 9 for several months now and am finally ready to write a review. The performance, size, and screen are all top notch. I love the body of the phone, as well as the craft paper textured back (I got the off white color which has a matte silver frame), and even the big camera rings. Asus did a great job on build quality, but to be fair, so does every company on virtually every phone over $400. My few problems will the phone are mostly software. These issues remind me that Asus is not a top tier phone maker. None of them break the experience, but they add up to an imperfect overall package. Camera: The cameras are pretty good, especially compared to the cheap phone I came from. I've used very expensive phone cameras and they definitely out perform this Zenphone but the difference isn't night and day. Photos take pretty quickly and, thanks to the gimble, are blur free. Even photos at night look great, so long as I give the shutter a second to take the photo. On the negative side, I hate that Asus forces me to use their weird gallery if I want to view photos from inside the camera app. I actually have to take a photo, leave the camera app, open Google Photos, then look at my photo. Lame. Battery: Battery life is pretty good, but the phone rarely lasts all day. I use my phone a lot for work, but I was spoiled by my last phone's giant battery and mid performance processor which helped it last two days. The Zenphone has some cool software tricks to help extend the physical life of the battery, like charging the phone to 90% (or 80% if you choose) and a trickle charge mode for overnight charging. I'm mostly sure it's a trickle charge at least, Asus doesn't make it super clear in their explanation, but I think that's what is happening. Overall Software Experience: It's mostly great! The phone is lightening fast aside from a super occasional hickup if I haven't restarted it for a long time. Asus added some cool features, like being able to change the icons toggles in the notification shade. They added a few that confuse me, like the Asus or stock android options for volume which is super confusing. This also isn't well explained in settings and has caused my to miss GPS turns because the GPS will get muted while phone, media, and alarms are still loud. Asus' default apps are lame, I don't know why they didn't default to Google's apps. A great example is the phone app - there is absolutely no way to see details in your call log. So I can't check to see how long a phone call was, what time it was placed, if the call was incoming or outgoing. And because Asus has not been updating the phone, I don't expect that to ever change. All of their apps, like their camera app, photos app, and more, all have weird omissions like that. Fingerprint Scanner: It works so quickly! In fact, it works so well that I often wake the screen by mistake which causes my phone to do weird things in my pocket. Like I once submitted a report to Google Music that was just gibberish. Oops. I've accidentally called a few clients or sent gibberish texts to people, which is much less funny. Because of the location of the scanner, I often unlock my phone when holding it while talking on speaker phone. And of course I had to turn off the feature that drops the notification shade down using the scanner. If I could change something, I'd move the scanner up closer to the volume buttons so it doesn't get hit by mistake so much. That would make the swipe actually useful too. This alone loses a star because I'm constantly unlocking my phone while talking to someone. They put the scanner exactly where your finger naturally lands. This is one thing I hate about the phone. I have to hold the phone in an unnatural, specific way while putting it into my pocket to avoid waking the screen as I put it away. I haven't had a phone with an in-display fingerprint scanner, but I see the benefit compared to side mounted. I still long for the days of rear mounted scanners, but they are long gone. Some Random Stuff: The speakers are good for a cell phone. Calls are clear, and people on the other end can hear me well. Signal is good, though usually only 4 of 5 bars, even when downtown. Could be my carrier, but I don't know. The included case is simple, but protects the phone without feeling bulky, matches the color, and has a similar texture - I'm a big fan. The gigantic camera bumps look good in person, but make the phone wobble when it's set down. My finger naturally wants to rest on the lower lens when I hold the phone in my left hand. I wish Asus had arranged the lenses so they were next to each other, but then I suppose they'd look like googly eyes. I've gotten one update in the six months that I've owned the phone, aside from one that was waiting for me when I first got it. I'd love to see some bug fixes, or even a new feature or two. It's the least they can do since the Zenphone only gets two years of updates. I'm disappointed that Asus isn't sending out security patches and bug fixes. It feels like they made the phone then bailed on it, like it's a cheap 2015 phone. There are no creaks in the phone, it definitely feels premium even with the plastic back. It's very slippery without a case, though less than most glass back phones. Finally, the little arrows and words on the back and side of the phone are subtle but cool. That's about it! I do like the phone, but if the Zenphone 10 doesn't improve on a few grievances, like the overly eager fingerprint scanner, the good but not great battery, and the lousy software support, I'll probably be looking for another brand when this lil guy starts getting old. Update June 2023 - three months after purchase. Lately when using speakerphone, the sound on my end just goes out. If I switch back to the earpiece there is still no sound. I have to restart the phone to get sound back. I'm having another issue lately where I just lose signal completely until the phone is restarted. Update Sept 2023 - six months after purchase. Down to two stars. I got one software update, it didn't seem to change or fix anything and Asus didn't list changes. Oddly, I had to check manually for it, because I didn't get notified by the phone. The update was a month old. It may have been a security patch. Everything with the phone still works, though I have to restart the phone every other day to keep weirdness away. No new issues however. I have found myself looking at the Galaxy S phones and wishing a bit that I'd purchased one of those instead. I've been thinking about next year's Galaxy S. I wanted to keep this phone for years, but without software updates, because of the annoying bugs, and due to feeling unsupported by Asus, I think this will end up sitting in a drawer as a backup phone real soon. That bums me out. Update October 2023 -seven months from purchase. Down to one star. One or both of the speakers have blown out. I use my phone for work, especially speaker phone. And now if I have the volume 75% or higher, sound is massively distorted. I'll try contacting Asus about warranty, but seeing as how I'm not getting software support, I don't have high hopes for hardware support. Update Also October 2023 I got an update that updated security patch and "system stability" but I'm not sure what else. Since the update my screen runs at 60hz instead of 120hz, most of the time. Randomly it'll be 120hz, but usually not. Asus has not responded to my request for warranty support that I submitted a week ago for the speaker. Update November 2023 - 8 months from purchase. I have reached out to Asus twice now about my blown speaker but no one has reached out. It feels like they don't care about warranty support. My screen still randomly runs at 60hz even when set to 120hz until I toggle through the settings , no update to be found. I'm not even sure Asus knows about the issue. I have completely lost faith in Asus and will not buy from them again. Update December 2023 - 9 months with the phone. Asus never responded to my warranty inquiries, so I gave up on trying. I reached out a total of four times and didn't once hear back aside from their automated response saying they'd contact me within 48 hours. The Zenfone 10 is apparently getting its android 14 update, my Zenfone 9 still hasn't gotten an update to fix the bugs the last update introduced, let alone Android 14 which was released several months ago. I feel like Asus sold me a phone then bailed on it. ... show more

  • Best phone I've owned
Color: Midnight Black Configuration: 8GB Digital Storage Capacity: 128 GB Connectivity Technology: NFC
The best phone I've owned: multiple day battery life, compact, and very performant. The motion stabilization is great. I like the side fingerprint sensor. My only complaint is the lack of wireless charging.
