Description

Originally Inspired by tired feet at the end of Badwater 135, the Paradigm continues to innovate with the updated 4. This max cushion shoe features the performance of the Altra EGO midsole and the comfort of a knit upper. This shoe stands out from the crowd with its unique take on guidance with integrated StabiliPods for a stable platform and a GuideRail system for guiding support when you need it, but not when you don’t. The asymmetrical design with medial flaring increases lateral support for weak or tired feet and is great for both neutral runners and those looking to upgrade from over structured “traditional stability” options. Allows your toes to relax and spread out naturally for more comfort and stability in uphill climbs and downhill descents. Places your heel and forefoot the same distance from the ground to encourage proper, low-impact form throughout your trail run. The Fit4Her technology means we customize every women's shoe to the unique anatomy of the female foot. • Go back to what works...
Wish I would have listened to other reviews... these run smaller than the other Altra shoes I have worn. I have neuromas & on my feet all day. Altra’s have been the only shoe that gives me the least amount of pain. Not these new ones...couldn’t even get through my work day!!

  • Initial thoughts
I'm writing this review as a therapist on my feet a lot. I am a former runner, but do not intend to actually run in these shoes. These are my first pair of Altras. I was drawn by the wide toe box and zero drop. I once had plantar fasciitis and look for footwear to help keep that from happening again. I also tend to roll my right ankle just walking so some stability helps, too. I'm coming from Hoka One One Bondi 5s, which are like walking on marshmallows. I don't necessarily need that but do want some cushion. These seem to check all the boxes for me, and I ordered them based on reviews, never having tried them on. They are comfortable and cushioned, but are firmer than the Bondis, and less bulky feeling. The zero drop will take a little getting used to, but it's not uncomfortable. There is arch support but it's not super aggressive. I feel like it lets me pronate (appropriately) and will reduce the chances of me rolling my ankle. The toe box is just perfect. Why don't all shoe companies design shoes like this??? In other shoes, I might go up 1/2 size just to make room but these are perfect. I wear a 9 in most shoes, 9.5 in running shoes, but the 9 is perfect in the Paradigm. I see what people are talking about with the tongue. It could stand to be more padded, but it's not a deal breaker. It might be if I were running long distances, but it's fine for daily wear. My heel is fairly narrow and these fit fine. I make sure I loop the closest hole and lace them through to lock my foot in better, but I do that with any laced shoe (see pic). I like the upper. The light blue is nice. We shall see how it holds up to daily wear. ... show more

  • Try something in person before ordering this online. You'll save time and money!
So let me begin with a positive. The shoe is cute and lightweight. It even seems to have good cushioning inside. The first pair I bought was half an inch too small (I wear size 10). I have a longer second toe, so it would hit the front of the shoe. I have a wider front part of my foot but my foot is thin. I returned it and ordered a half size larger (10.5). Now the shoe fits alright from the front and the back, but now there was too much space between the top of my foot and the cloth of the shoe. Basically meaning there was nothing to hold the top part of my foot from swimming. Great wide toe base, but I gave 3 stars because I wanted this shoe to work for me but it didn't. I'll be returning the second pair as well 😕. Pretty expensive for a shoe also. ... show more

  • This product is wonderful for people who have problems with their feet.
I like these shoes very much. they are my second pair of Altra's. I am not a runner but I do work fulltime on my feet and they are great for support and comfort. I will continue buying Altra sneakers. They have so much for your toes . Everyone should own a pair. Whether ot be for walking, running or working on your feet ... they are excellent!!! ... show more

  • Firm but the most support/comfortable shoe I've ever owned
My husband was directed to these shoes while traveling and stopping by a running store out of state. He has TERRIBLE problems with foot, ankle, toe, pain. After him buying two more pair for himself he bought these for me to try. I agree. My feet are supported and while the souls feel "firm" to the touch they are fantastic I never feel any pain or fatigue throughout the day. It's hard to explain, again they don't feel "soft" but just incredibly supportive/comfortable. THANKS Potomoc River Running and thanks to amazon for having a variety of colors/sizes for men and women. They fit precisely the size both our feet are measured. Wide toe boxes for people with toe pain. Just can't say enough. Now my sisters are buying them also. ... show more

  • Great Shoes & Very Stylish
We purchased these shoes on doctor recommendation because my daughter has a narrow foot but needs a wide toe base. We've been very pleased with these shoes, they fit perfect and allow plenty of room for the toes while still being able to tie tight enough for her narrow foot. Also, very stylish and comfortable. ... show more

  • Super shoes
These shoes are super comfortable, I’m on my feet all day and have to wear all black shoes so these work out so great that I even purchased the same shoes in a pretty color

  • Horrible Shoe
I was really excited to get a new pair of Altra, I am running with Altra for many years. This particular pair is horrible. it is HARD and uncomfortable, the fit is good, but they feel bad. As I have had such great experiences with Altra in the past I just put them on and went out, it took me awhile to realize I was in pain, the sole of the shoe is too hard, it hurts, none of the usual soft walking in the clouds feel. After I wore them I couldn't return them, they are bad even for walking... too expensive to toss out. Anyways today I bought another pair, I have the same model for 2 year, and I hope it will fit as it should. Or I am done with Altra... I just went back and counted - 11 pair of Alta shoes I have had since 2014, this model sucks! ... show more
