  • Simple star map helps identify targets in the night sky
This is a very simple, classic design of star map. I have apps on my phone that help me identify targets in the night sky, but I really like using the old school star charts and maps. This map provides a really nice, visual representation of how celestial objects move about the sky, which is great for kids, and still inspires awe in me. This one is easy to use, just spin the dial and line it up with the north star. The relative magnitude (or brightness) of each star is indicated by how large of a white dot it has on the map. That way you can quickly identify what you are looking at in the sky. I like to look at this during the day, and determine what targets I'll be able to try to identify in which part of the sky at night. ... show more

  • Night sky map
This is a great night sky map that is useful all year as you turn the celestial circle to match the current date. The map is detailed, with all kinds of interesting celestial objects pointed out. My only problem with it is that it gets sent out in a plain paper envelope, without any rigid backing material. This arrived in a padded envelope, but that wasn't enough to prevent it from getting deeply creased in several places. The circle can still spin, but the creases are permanent and will always mar the item. ... show more

  • Nice for learning
Simple tool to help figure out the night sky. I haven't tried to use at the same time as a telescope and not sure what easy options are available in the dark (without using a flashlight). Looking forward to studying the constellations!

  • A perfect start map for astronomy nerds
I do a ton of astrophotography, and this is a handy guide to toss in my bag. I'm quite familiar with the night sky and know a number of celestial objects—like Orion being visible in the winter and Andromeda and the Milky Way during late summer. Even so, this guide is a fantastic resource, especially when I’m in areas with no cell service! This would make a great gift for those who are starting their adventures in the night sky! ... show more

  • Excellent resource to teach the sky
This little device makes it easy to star gaze as well as teach and learn about the night sky.

  • Great star chart, a little tricky to use
Really like this star chart. Printed on heavy cardstock with a rotating night sky. Make sure this works in your part of the world as it varies depending on what latitude you're at. A little tricky to use... have to line up a number of things (direction, time, etc) to make sure you're looking at the correct stars. Once you get it, it works well. Very interesting to see and identify the various stars and planets. ... show more

  • The hell is this? This telescope just sucks
Size: 24X-180X
Seriously. All it does is make a star a little bit brighter. I tried all configs, looked at Jupiter, and Venus but you couldn’t tell what they were. It says you can see Saturns rings, but I don’t think it can see past the end of the lense housing. Terrible. Reviews are for something different too.

  • Must have for the star lover
Neat gift for a fan of the stars. Neat way to track the stars in the sky!
