I bought this because I have dogs and dust and live in an area where people can burn refuse. This product is wonderful! Helps remove dog dander and has cut down on dust. When neighbors burn refuse the air gets filled with smoke and my eyes burn and water, even when windows are closed. This air purifier is an excellent solution. It also has filters that can be cleaned and does not require buying new filters. It is also quiet. I bought the whole house variety. I highly recommend this product. After reading the reviews of SEVERAL air purifiers on the market I chose this SHARK Never Change unit primarily due to the reusable side filters and the projected 5-year HEPA filter. We like it so much we bought this one in grey/black and moved our white unit to our basement. Right out of the box we set the unit on Auto Mode and it started out at Blue 96%. Whisper quiet it took approximately 45 mins for the display to show Blue 100%. Very much appreciate the almost completely silent operation and the choices of Bright, Dim or No illumination for the readout. Was skeptical at first whether it was doing anything but it does change from 100% to 95% depending on if our 3 Bernese Mountain dogs are walking past or playing near it or if an outside door opens etc. I believe the 1300 sq ft to be fairly accurate as we have ours in our "Great Room" with 30' ceilings on our main floor. It seems to be drawing in from our Master bedroom, study and sitting room. We have noticed a visible difference in dust for sure! We have a lot of black shelves and tables and the lack of normal dust was more than noticeable after two days. Can't make any guarantees that you'll never dust again, but you won't need to as much. I highly recommend trying this air purifier out for yourself. We had been researching buying one for over a year and the biggest drawback is the price of replacement filters which seem to need to be changed every 3 months. Not cost effective. This unit utilizes 3 filters with the two side filters easily removable for quick cleaning. These filters will capture dog fur or any large airborne debris which helps the HEPA filter do it's job. The Fragrance Pod is exactly the same as in our SHARK vacuum. Very light and not overbearing. There are also several HEPA filters that can be used to replace the original 5-year filter from SHARK or on Amazon. I highly recommend this unit for yourself. ... show more

Bought one of these in November 2023 and a second one shortly afterwards. Controls are conveniently placed on top where you can easily see them. We programmed the one in our bedroom to run on low at night so it doesn't wake us. I don't pay a lot of attention to the sensors and I am not sure how accurate they are. The proof for me is the debris I vacuum off the unit's filters (including the HEPA) once a month, which is considerable. I could really tell the difference in air quality after using it for just a few days. To test out the first unit, we deep cleaned a particularly dusty room and ran it there to see how well it would cut particulates/dust. It made a huge difference. Before we got the Shark, and even with our other air filters running, we could write our name on furniture within a single day or so of dusting (old house). This unit has dramatically cut the need to dust and vacuum in this room, and we definitely breathe better. I have tried several other expensive brands including Blueair. The latter is much larger and very loud by comparison and just does not work as well unless I run it on high nonstop. The Shark is a very intelligent design. It pulls air in like a vortex through fins on the sides that direct air across a wide swath of filter material. Kind of reminds me of hood scoops on cars. Most other devices I have tried have little holes on the sides and most seem to draw area through the filter material. The Blueair units that we have pull air from the floor surface through the middle of the unit and expel from the top. None that we have tried previously are as effective as the Shark. I have had excellent luck with Shark vacuums and own three of those, so I was thrilled to discover they made an air filter that works as well as their vacuums. Super impressed with this particular product and they are both working great after 4 months. We don't use the "odor control" disc as I don't like the indoor air pollution of air fresheners. You can turn them to an off position but we just don't install them at all and it doesn't affect operation. I don't understand some of the critical comments about how these don't work. You are not going to get a "clean room" research lab quality environment for plus or minus $300 and it might have something to do with placement. If you have smells that have permeated your walls and flooring, this is not going to fix that. This is a well priced consumer product that works great for most needs if you are looking to pull particulate matter out of the air. We have one in a very large eat in kitchen/family room and another in a master bedroom. They handle the dander and debris of several dogs and two birds plus typical household dust very well. ... show more

Very expensive in comparison to others on the market. It does seem to work well in terms of keeping the air clean. I do like the digital display that shows the air quality. The odor cartridge that came with it noticeably had a nice scent for maybe a week. I have only kept it on low because I don't like my air to be super fragranced. It ran out pretty quickly and I'm not sure it even makes sense. They only provide 1 cartridge. I'm sure there's a way to buy more but like why do I want to do that? This was an expensive purchase and I think everyone needs air purifiers in their home because our air quality is SO important. Overall I would recommend, I just wish the manufacturer would make the scent cartridge more useful. It does seem to clean the air very well. I bought this one for the main part of a split level house, and the smaller ones for each bedroom. The air is noticeably more clean. The "never change" feature actually means that you'll change the filter every few years rather than every 6 months which I mean maybe makes sense? I feel like I'd rather change out my filters frequently to maintain the air quality. I can't imagine that the air purifier will function with the same efficiency after 5 years of not changing the filter. Seems like a marketing tactic more than a real benefit. ... show more

Very quiet and does a great job keeping dust and allergens down. The only thing I could point out is that the odor neutralizing cartridge ad a nice aroma but they do not last very long.
