So, I just got this machine…I don’t usually leave reviews this early, but I love the idea of no more filter waste and cost, and this seems to be a very well-built unit. I have had many air purifiers through the years, and the cost of filters for anything effective for a large-ish area are very expensive. If this unit lasts even half of the 20 years it claims, it will have more than paid for itself as compared to replacement HEPA machines. Life lesson: pay now, or pay 2,3,5,10x more replacing units and filters later. As for the noise level…I’ve seen a few reviews, some critical, some matter-of-fact, that say the fan is loud on the high setting. Well, yes, sort of. The more air a fan moves, the louder it will be. I really don’t know what some are expecting. This is obvious logic to me, and imo it’s quieter than most, and extremely quiet on the lower settings. HEPA machines are louder because they have to run even higher to get the same air flow. They are pulling air through a tight paper filter. Your room and setup will also have a big effect on the noise level. In a carpeted room, you will find it’s much quieter than on hardwood. On a table, on hardwood, in a room with little sound dampening materials, I’m sure it will be loudest. Again, common sense. This thing is not louder than anyone should expect, and honestly, like I said, quieter and better built than any other unit I’ve used. The features on the app and machine are exactly as described and very nice. Open the pdf manual here and read before you buy if you’re expecting VOC and humidity sensors lol…it does not have them, and if you need them or expect them, buy something else. This is also common sense. The price point is for the robust build and sturdy, washable, 20 year filters. Again, WELL worth the money if it lasts as long as they say it will. If Alexa cleaned the air in my house without filter changes, I’d pay $1000 for her lol. I have had a large room Holmes purifier for over 20 years now - a testament to the fan quality! It cleans half the area of this NuWave. I change the filter once per year (which is a stretch!). This GENERIC filter (not the name brand) costs me about $35 on sale. $35x20 = $700. This is a low-ball estimate. OEM filter is probably $50 or more. Just like most things in life, the cheaper product is almost always much more expensive in the long run. So, buy all the sensors you need on the side, stop creating waste, stop wasting money, and buy this. 5 year warranty + extra year with registration to boot! I will, of course, update my review if I start having issues with the machine, customer service, or both. ... show more

It is loud on the highest setting, but when sleeping it's nice. I clears out the smoke from the whole house. It works great on my phone with the app. I just love this machine! My wife suffers from year-round allergies here in Texas, so I wanted to do something so she could have some sort of relief when she's at home, so I decided on this particular model. The 2 big selling points for me was. 1. No costly replacement filters. All you have to do is to rinse them out, let them dry, and pop them back in . as for the machine itself, it's performing wonderfully, I've noticed a huge difference with my wife especially. she's not sneezing nearly as much as she did . for example, before my wife would sneeze 3-4 times every 15-20 minutes, now she sneezes 2-3 time a night. a dramatic difference. My wife also says that she is sleeping a lot better because she's not as congested as she was. I'm sleeping a lot better now because her congestion was causing her to snore very loud, and now she barely snores at all... My wife says she sleeps more soundly than she did before because she's not being woken up several times throughout the night because she's so congested. I've also bought a second unit so we have one in our master bedroom and also one in our tv area where we spend the majority of our time at home . I keep them both on AUTO because you can't hear the fan at all but if it detects some sort of particles in the air then the light turns yellow then red and the fan kicks in and it is a bit loud but once the air is clear it goes back to being silent... 2. WI-FI enabled. Now I thought this was an added bonus that I can control my units via their app and I thought that was awesome , I can control them wherever I am plus it will notify me when it's time to clean the filters right? WRONG the app is totally useless that's why I only gave this 4 stars. Once you download the app you put in your info then it wants your" precise location" . Why in the name of all that is Holy does an air purifier want to know your exact location? once you do actually pair this with your phone (this process took about 3 and a half weeks to get to this point) and it did absolutely nothing at all.. Not a deal breaker but I was very disappointed because not many units have this feature I thought it was a nice perk. Having said all that about the app, the unit functions wonderfully without the app but I discovered on my own that I have several smart plugs and light bulbs throughout my house using the SMART LIFE app. through that you can pair it with that app, and it will be FULLY functional meaning you can now control your unit(s) as you see fit... This is a really good machine. It does make noise, but it is not too bothersome for me. Follow their directions. I found them very useful; it has a lot of different ways to use it. It cleans a very large area and you can smell the difference. The filters can be carefully washed and do not have to be replaced. Well, it did say replace after 20 years, but I'm 89, so I'm not worrying about that! Not having to buy filters will pay for the machine in not too long a time.
