  • Installation Challenging for Me
I finally got mine installed today after purchasing it over a year ago. I changed out my garage door motor unit so that I could install this after having my garage burglarized. I had trouble installing it. After drilling the holes the garage door wheels were making contact with the screws and causing the door the bounce back up. I solved this in four ways: 1. Persuading the garage door rail out a little but with a hammer. 2. Bending the areas where the screws make contact with the inside rail out a little bit using washers and extreme tightening. 3. Getting new screws from Home Depot with a rounded head and a better cut indentation for the screw driver (I stripped my first screws). 4 I grounded out the area on the inside rail to the size of the screw head. Collectively these efforts allow the screw to recess a little in the rail allowing it now to work for me. Total intallation time with trips to the hardware store: about 3 hours. After all of this effort I really hope the unit lasts. I want one for the other side but will probably wait a few months before doubling down on this solution. ... show more

  • Might not last more than a year or a few but so cool and convenient
Two hols and two screws. And two wires with a plus on it for newer motor or cut plus and connect each wire for an older model easy. Massive physical security upgrade. However if someone gets your clicker you have no extra security. For vacation or max security unplug from garage and slide manually into locked position. ... show more

  • Lock is right but connected was 3 prong and I needed 2 prong
Connector wasn’t right so I cut and spliced the old one in and it works great.

  • Only lasts 3 years
This is my third one of these. They last about 3 years if you use your garage pretty much every day. Gears strip so it just makes a horrible noise and does not work so another $150 down the drain.

  • Roll up storage door electric locks
The latching garage door lock works well as an option to have wifi locks on a roll up door. The locks are wired to a circuit that switches 12v with 2 amps and the app used is a simple Wemo or Leviton app for a plug. When the plug is on the locks are open. When power is off they close. The code was written such that if the power is lost the locks will engage. The locks have a manual latch as well in case the wifi goes out. ... show more
