Top Amazon Reviews

  • Very happy with opener and seller/support
I essentially never leave Amazon product reviews, however my experience with the product and the seller was so good, that I felt the need to share. I live in a single family house which has two 2-car garages, each of which has a double wide heavy roll up garage door with glass windows. The original electric garage door openers were Liftmaster 3800 jackshaft units, which have performed reasonably well for over 10 years. However recently they seemed to be struggling, even with the door being properly balanced. I knew it was time to replace the openers. I was comfortable in the Liftmaster product world, so I did research on a replacement. Liftmaster recently re-engineered their jackshaft openers, and now everything up to and including the model 8800 is end of life. The current new technology replacement (released June 2023) is this 98022 unit. This has a much improved DC motor, better logic board and electronics, built in battery backup, a better wall mounted control pad with digital display, and finally gets rid of the terrible problematic cable tension monitor system. I found the best price here from Ace Garage Door (located in Florida), but before I ordered 2 new units, I had some questions. I contacted the seller through the Amazon system, and received immediate, prompt, and thorough replies, even at odd hours and over the weekend. The seller even sent backup documents for me to read. I was more than satisfied, and ordered 2 units. These shipped promptly, however note that because these have battery backups, the units must ship ground from the Amazon fulfillment center (Prime doesn't get you any faster shipping). The units did however arrive as fast as expected and intact. The included instructions and parts were thorough, and as I had familiarity with a prior Liftmaster jack shaft system, deinstallation of the old systems and installation of the new ones was pretty straightforward. The new 98022 systems are way better than the old AC technology and logic. Smooth, fast, quiet operation. The setup process is much better, with easy programming of your cable drum size and door weight, and then setup of upper and lower limits, and automated setting of forces required for your door. The new included wireless LED ceiling light is really bright, and now I don't have any RF interference from the replacement LED bulbs I had in the old ceiling light system. I was able to deinstall my old separate add-on myQ unit, as these openers have built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and myQ. With the myQ app on your smartphone, you get control from anywhere, as well as excellent data and diagnostics. Overall I am very pleased with the openers and with the seller. ... show more

  • Piece of crap
4 months into using this opener and the logic board is shot. I paid to get a diagnosis of what's going on with the opener and LiftMaster (Chamberlin) customer service said they will send a new logic board. Well that is fine and dandy but now I have to pay again for a professional to change out the logic board, if I can even find someone. I already paid a professional to find out what was going on with it. Now my $542 open is costing me about $1000. This should have been an exchange. It was delivered on November 16 and by April 1 now needs a logic board. We are in our 60's so it's not like we are about to climb a ladder and figure out how to change a logic board. Also, if it failed once what else is going to go wrong with this thing, that is a major part of the opener. DO NOT Purchase!!! ... show more

  • Smooth and quiet operation
The installation was simple and the instructions well written. However, I had some initial operational issues which took some time to resolve. As it turned out, although the electric eyes were both lit showing that they properly aligned, they would blink off and on as if seeing an obstruction when the door opened and closed. I finally determined the issue was caused by the flexing on the track on which the receiving unit was mounted. One or two adjustments and it works perfectly... But considering the frustration I had before finding the problem, I would recommend the manufacturer develop a more stable wall mount bracket for the lights... My 2013 Venza home linked easily synced with the remote. ... show more

  • Easy
This opener was so easy to install. Works great. Be prepared to do some adjustments to your door if it doesn’t close easily as the opener will not work correctly.

  • Liftmaster 98022 Wall Mount....EXCELLENT!
First off....seller ACE Garage Door is EXCELLENT! Quick to respond to messages, shipping is quick, and products are OEM and current models. Packaging is excellent. Highly recommend ACE as your next garage door opener and accessories vendor! Installed on my workshop garage. The 98022 is smooth, powerful, and easy to install. Included: Wall mount control (includes temp and time), two sensors with cable, LED overhead light (120V plug - no other wires needed), one car remote, and an auto lock mechanism. The auto lock is a great security feature as it automatically locks the door when it closes and unlocks when opened. It is a steel rod that is actuated and it mounts to garage door rails. It fits standard rails with 4"-6" drums (cables), and with 1" rail rod. You need a power source within 6' for motor and 6' for LED overhead light. Instructions are good with two mistakes I found. Step 2, sections 6 and 7, call for wiring door control and protector system (sensors) part C and D respectively, but should read wiring part B and C, as there is no D. The wifi allows you to download the myQ app and use your phone as an opener. There are other features as well, but I only used the app for the opener function. When my other two garage door openers 8' (one double and one single belst and screw drives) give up the ghost, I will be replacing them with wall mount Liftmasters!! ... show more

  • Bad logic board -- TWICE!
The unit insists the sensors either aren't installed or not aligned correctly. Even when they're taped together nose to nose, the "not aligned" error persists. Chamberlain sent new sensors; no change. Then they said I need a logic board, which they said would be shipped by two-day air. Three weeks later when it hadn't arrived, I contacted them and was told the board was back-ordered and "someone should have told me." So I ordered a second complete unit -- ONLY TO ENCOUNTER THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM! And now I'm told that the second unit must also have a "bad logic board." I'm sure this will be a great garage door opener -- if I ever get it to work. As it stands, I've never actually seen it turn on and move the door -- and it's now been 43 days since I purchased it (well past Amazon's 30-day return policy. I definitely would not recommend this unit -- at least not until Chamberlain gets this logic board problem worked out. ... show more
