The entire setup - from opening the box to have it up and running in the pool took less than five minutes. The speed of this vacuum is AMAZING to say the least. It does not get stuck in the ladder or stairs. It climbs all the way to the water line and drops back down to the bottom, or, if it doesn't touch the water line, it just cleans the sides before moving to the bottom. I was not sure about buying a low cost pool cleaner, but this thing really works well. I followed the instructions on how to set up and after about an hour it had the entire 15x33 pool floor along with wall cleaned. In only 5 minutes it climbed onto the Baja shelf, which the old brand could not do. It replaces a $600 brand that needed $200 rebuild every 2 years and would get stuck on little pebbles or large leaves. Could not be Happier. ... show more

Purchased after rechargeable unit failure. Our pool is under large trees and it can cause vacuum to get clogged if you don’t take the time to get leaves and sticks out of the pool proactively before running the vacuum. Ours accumulate in the middle so it isn’t a problem.

So I had a barracuda prior to this that lasted a little over 7 years. When that cracked I figured I'd try something cheaper and found this. First one I bought didn't make it to 2 years before the piece that held the weights cracked and made it useless. Figured maybe it was a fluke and tried again, purchased another and came out one day and saw the entire thing had broken apart (see photo). This time it made it 3 years. At a time when I have a child in the NICU and mother with cancer customer services response to my request for a replacement was "its out of warranty, sorry for convenience" so this company doesn't care at all about backing up its product or support. They should add to the product description that the product will only last a few years then we will tell you to kick rocks when it breaks. Sure the barracudas are more expensive but you'll be replacing it less because they are just better made with better support. This is a get what you pay for product that will cost you more in the long run then better made products they imitate. Look elsewhere. ... show more

    • Gets job done, good in plaster free form sloped pools, great price!
Gets the job done, and for the price, it's a great deal. I have a plaster free-form pool, 16k gallons with a sloped deeper end, roughly 30ft long by 15-18ft wide. The unit does "prefer" the deeper end, but when running for 6-7hrs in the summer here in the Southwest, it eventually gets to the other side. The suction power is controlled by the pool equipment valves. I close the main drain, and open the skimmer a bit and it moves really fast on the 1st and 2nd pump speeds and a bit slower on the 3rd and slower pump speed. My last unit moved forward, but this little guy moves backwards, but I don't think it impacts its ability to move. The pattern appears to be based on the suction power and the position of the hoses. It only got stuck once, on the single sharp corner of the pool. It gets stuck around the steps but not for long; it can free itself. I'm using my older hoses but will try with the new ones to see if it makes a difference in how it moves around. My pool guy was actually surprised how well it worked considering the price. He wants to recommend to other clients who don't want to invest $300 on new famous brand cleaners. It climbs walls well, but like all other suction cleaners, there's no consistency in how much gets cleans and where. The parts it bypasses the most, is the center of the deep end near the drain, and the center of the shallow end, but, as I said, it eventually gets there a couple of times. I leave the heating bubble cover on the pool all week, with the cleaner on in the pool, and it still moves around okay underneath. The cover appears to restrict the movement but only partially. The shallow end had some minor debris when my pool guy removed the cover to clean it over the weekend. This is a tremendous deal for the price, which includes shipping. These cheaper suction units are not perfect, but I don't think the $300 ones are either. My pool guy says the Barracuda works the same way, and agree. Pool owner since 2006. Update: this company doesn't sell replacement parts. I tried ordering other ones online but they are not an exact match. I ordered the leaf filter as well. Now the suction is there but the vacuum has lousy mobility. Without the parts for replacement, it's impossible to know what's causing it. I'm considering one of the robots. Something that bypasses my pool system. I'm tired of dealing with these guys. They work great but they only last a year or so if you are lucky. They need to sell parts to make it worthwhile for their customers. ... show more

Had bought many name brands inground pool cleaners over the past 20 years, but they all eventually break or have issues and are much more expensive, needing to replace my last one, decided to give this generic and inexpensive one a try, and I have been using it for about three months, and it really cleans the pool as good or better than the branded and expensive ones I bought in the past. Makes me feel the branded fancy ones are just a scam. Make yourself a favor and try this one when you need to replace yours. I am simply a responsible consumer and citizen who thinks that if we all share our honest product experiences we can improve the quality of goods, their value and our society, and so far at three months of use this product really delivers excellent value and performance. Had one of these for 4 or 5 years and the plastic head broke. I ordered a different replacement that turned out to be problematic to say the lease.
