I have some very pricey and very nice AquaBound paddles that I use with my kayaks, but when I lend out a boat to a neighbor or friend, I am always nervous about giving them the nice paddles for fear they will use them improperly and break them. I decided something strong and adjustable would be ideal, and this UEGHNS paddle seemed to fit the bill. At less than one tenth the price of my other paddles I wasn’t expecting much at around twenty-five dollars, but I was pleasantly pleased with this paddle. The stainless-steel shaft is plenty strong, but I will say the paddle is quite heavy as a result at around 2.75-pounds, so if you use it for several hours your arms will certainly tire but if you’re looking for a workout, this will do the trick. The fiberglass reinforced polypropylene blades seem plenty durable and should be able to take a beating, like pushing off a rock or scraping a gravel riverbed. Where this paddle shines is in the adjustability. My nice paddles are fixed at 230cm (90.5-inches), but this paddle adjusts from 71-inches to 100-inches (180cm to 254cm), so it can work well with a variety of differently sized individuals or with boats that have wide or narrow hulls. Assembly was simple and it is quick and easy to adjust the length, and I like that you can offset the angle of each paddle blade if you wish. The notches in the blade for fishing line are a nice feature for folks that will use these for fishing. Because of how this paddle is adjustable, the shafts are quite a bit thicker to grasp than a standard paddle, but the foam padding is a nice touch. If I have any nitpicks, it is the following (but at this price, it’s nothing worth deducting a star for): - Because of how these adjust, if you have them set to a longer length, you’ll be grabbing the stainless-steel tubing and not the foam-covered black portion. - I wish there were tick marks or length markings on the shaft, similar to what are on telescoping trekking poles, so that you can always quickly and easily open the paddle to a specific length each time. - The drip rings cannot be moved further down the shaft, so when I use this with my wide SOT kayak, the drip rings become submerged with the blade, rendering the drip rings useless. I didn’t realize this came with the paddle leash shown in the images, so that was a nice addition. Despite my nitpicks, so far it seems to be a good value for what you get with this paddle. If anything doesn’t hold-up or if anything rusts, I will return to update this review. ... show more

Overall, I think this is a decent product. Our inflatable kayak did not come with an oar. We needed one and I thought I would take a chance on this one. This one’s a little bit different than most, has the two ends screw together rather than clipping together. That can be an advantage, as long as this one screws in tight, but can be easily unscrewed. Just by playing with it in the living room, it seems this is the case. Time will tell. It comes with everything you need to put it together. The plastic of the oars themselves seem to be fairly decent quality. It goes together quite tight. You can extend it just about as long as want it. The steel seems to be have good quality as well. When I get it out on the river, and dig in and pull against the current, we’ll see how well it holds up. It does come with a coiled lanyard, I assume that you Velcro it around the center of the oar and then to your kayak or your belt loop so that if you drop it, it doesn’t float away. Many oars float, and I’m not sure if this one will or not. That is perhaps why it comes with the lanyard. Overall, the workmanship seems to be decent. I wouldn’t bet my life on this in an Olympic race, but for an afternoon float on the river on the lake, this seems to be fairly high-quality. ... show more

Aluminum is a lot lighter than steel. I just don't see why anyone would buy something so much heavier, when aluminum is plenty strong enough for paddles. And costs less. I regret getting it because of the weight; I'm going to give it away (I got it free to review). It's a nicely made paddle, don't get me wrong. I got it because I like the look of stainless steel; I just forgot how heavy it is. I just "air paddled" this inside and knew right away I wouldn't be able to paddle it on the water for more than a very short time without having very sore arms. Some might keep it for a backup paddle because it is easily stowable; it breaks down into 3 pieces. Oh, and I have a wide boat, and it is longer than most, so that's a plus. But... They state the biggest weakness of this paddle (other than being heavy) right in the 5th frame of the description: "the hand may not be able to hold the sponge handle when adjusted to the longest length." Yup, that's a problem, because stainless steel is cold and slippery. The sponge handles are nice and comfortable... but are placed so they only work if you keep the paddle short. So, if you like strength and the look of stainless steel, and you don't mind heavy weight, maybe this paddle is for you. I think most people would be better off with aluminum (if cost is a factor) or fiberglass or carbon if you can afford them. ... show more
