First time reviewer, I've never cared enough to draft a product review until the UE Roll 2, the experience really grinded my gears. Positive: Before getting to the negatives, which are forthcoming in spades, noteworthy the product (while operational) is pretty solid. For the value: Quality sound, volume spectrum serviceable (loud enough for any reasonable use of such a sized device), relatively easy and lag-less connectivity to ios device (via app), sleek design convenient for transport. From a "value" perspective I was satisfied, albeit the sound quality is not on par with higher end alternatives. Negative: The device inexplicably broke after 6 months of light use (nearly all in home). The device suddenly would not take a charge, the result of a faulty battery. I'm a pretty tech savvy dude and pursued every avenue to resolve. After trouble shooting, issue clearly a result of a faulty battery, requiring replacement. This is not covered under the extremely limited factory warranty. Replacement battery not practical from a cost perspective. I was a bit peeved at this point but my gears were not grinded until I tried to contact the manufacturer to inquire about replacement. The customer process was very inconvenient (purposely?) a) had to dig through numerous sites to find the correct contact # for service center b) even more hoops to jump through to get a competent human on the dial. I did not purchase an extended warranty given the low price point, which one could say is my faukt. Imo, the cause of mailfunction is a direct fault of a cheap product, as such the terms of the standard warranty are crap. I've always been one to buy higher end electronics, you get what you pay for, Which has been evident in the Bose device I now own. After sifting through the interwebs its evident this is a pretty common problem, do not purchase with out being aware of this, not cheap enough for this riff Raff. ... show more

Overall a very very good product. I am a kite Surfer and strap this to my harness while on the water, and it allows me to listen to music at a decent the volume and in good quality. The only reason that I am giving it three stars is because the product does not have a feature that allows you to skip or pause the song. The only controls on the speaker are power on and off and volume up and down. Any song selection and or voice assistant activation has to be done on your phone or smartwatch. Being a product that is intended to be used in the water and in outdoor conditions, it would be user-friendly if you could actually change the song with the controls on the speaker itself. If you're looking for an easy lightweight outdoor speaker, this is a very good product, just be sure you have a smartwatch or a phone in a waterproof case that you can change the songs with. ... show more

    • Best speaker I've ever owned!

This is by far one of the best purchases I've ever made. First off, the fact that this speaker is waterproof is a game changer. I love to listen to music while I'm in the shower and before buying this I could never really do that since I had to leave my speaker outside the shower and the noise from the shower head canceled out most of the music. The bungee cord makes it super easy to hang it on a hook in the shower and then your music is right there at ear level. The sound quality is great. You can download the UE app and within that you can tinker around with the EQ, it's set at the normal balance right out of the box, but you can select the premade "standard" or "bass jump" modes, or make your own using the EQ modifier. I keep mine on standard since I listen to a variety of music, but everything from bassy EDM to classic rock sounds amazing. The other nice thing about the speaker is that they include a floaty for you to strap the speaker to. I've already made all of my friends jealous by bringing it to pool parties and my lake house, it's great to listen to while you're swimming. Be warned it DOES NOT FLOAT so do not take it off in deep water or else it will sink. Also, I can leave it playing on the first floor of my house and walk up to my room on the second floor and not lose connection, the wireless range is phenomenal. Overall this is the best speaker I've ever owned. If you're considering buying this or another one of the UE speakers, I highly encourage you to, you definitely won't regret it. ... show more

    • Great Speaker, But Does Not Stand Upright as Implied in Photos

Beware of photos. This speaker does not stand upright. bought this speaker because Wirecutter rated it as the top portable wireless Bluetoothspeaker, but I realized to my great surprise that there was no way to stand the speaker upright as all the photos of it picture it. The loop shown in the photos that looks as if it is a right stand is in fact a rope for hanging the speaker. The speaker's sound quality and controls are, indeed, as Wirecutter says, excellent. However, I need a speaker that sends sound outward into the room and not toward the ceiling. So I took advantage of Amazon's generous return polity and sent the speaker back. ... show more
