So I read a few reviews...most customers are pleased. There was one review in which the rake broke after 20 minutes-pictures were provided. I guess that was a fluke. I used my rake today for over 20 minutes...off and on while I was mowing the yard. My yard is about 30' by 40'. Someone described this as having a telescopic handle..don't think that is the right word. Did it get loose...I call it settling in...maybe twice I tightened it and that was when I was checking it. I'm 5'7" and felt the need to bend over and rake low. This action was taken as I did not want to stress the handle too much and it felt like it performed better. Yard tools break sometimes...this won't last forever. If this type of tool gets me through 4-5 years I'll be happy Considering the quality, design, your needs, and price....Is this for you. ... show more

As soon as this arrived, it was barely out of the package and assembled before my boyfriend grabbed it and pointed to an area in of our lawn to use it on. He could not wait to get his hands on this durable thatch rake and go to work in the backyard. Pulling up dead grass and such is hard work and having a good, strong, and durable tool helps immensely in getting the job done. The design of this thatch rake with all of its wonderful features and powerful strength makes ordinary rakes fall way behind in every area from looks, features, muscle, and the ability to get the job done efficiently. The head of the rake has deep tines to grab the loose thatch from the ground level without ripping up the growing grass. The head has one set of tines that are perpendicular the the frame and the other side is an offset angle for various tasks. I also tested the rake in a fallow vegetable garden bed and it works well for loosening and leveling the soil. As far as construction the handle is welded to the head and the three lengths of adjustable handle are easy to twist on or off ; longer handle length or shorter. 20 minutes into using this and it's already broken. This item is very poor quality. The welds holding the rake to the handle failed. I would not recommend wasting money on this product.

    • Heavy Duty Thatching Head-Simple Assembly
This rake has a heavy duty thatching head and a sturdy handle that requires assembly. Though it doesn't come with any instructions, it is easy to put together if you lay out the parts before starting. The end of the handle has a grip on it and there are several pieces that just screw into each other. The trick is to make sure the last one you screw in is the one with the 2 holes in the end that match the 2 in head of the rake. The included hardware is good quality...2 bolts and 2 Nylock nuts along with a wrench (you've no doubt got a better one in your toolbox) and an Allen key that fits in the head of the bolt. Takes only a few minutes to tighten these down and you're ready to go to work. Tool is sturdy and handle is a lot more stable and solid than you might think. Impressed with quality of it and expect to get a lot of work out of it. ... show more

Wow! This is a solid and sturdy product. It's definitely not a toy! The neon green color is eye-catching and I love it. The dethatcher rake is made of steel and welded securely in all the right places. The tines on this rake look sharp and dangerous, with one side being straight and the other curved. It will certainly give you a good workout when you're handling it on your lawn. I can't wait to see the results of all my hard work now that I have the right tool for the job. This rake is better than I expected. It is easy to assemble with 2 bolts and nuts and the tools to do it come in the box. The 4 stainless steel tubes are lightweight yet strong and you can remove one or two to adjust the overall length. I like that it is extra long when using all the tubes. Seems to be well made and I expect it to last a long time. I will be using this in my garden mostly and it will serve me just great. I recommend this rake. ... show more

Easy assembly, all required tools included. Heavy tines. It does a great job. In addition to that ching the grass, I wanted to use this to help remove the black walnuts from the yard. The neighbors tree drops them all over. This thatcher cleans the grass in more ways than one!
