🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

These product reviews indicate that the camera system is generally well-regarded for its easy installation, good picture quality, and affordable price. Users also appreciate the wide view and night vision capability. However, there are some concerns about unreliable motion detection and the length of cables provided. The software and instruction manual also leave room for improvement.

Pros

  • 👍 Easy to set up and install
  • 👍 Wide view and good picture quality
  • 👍 Night vision works well
  • 👍 Reasonable price
  • 👍 Push notifications with playback options

Cons

  • 👎 Unreliable motion detection
  • 👎 Provided cables may not be long enough
  • 👎 Clunky and outdated DVR software
  • 👎 Confusion about the appropriate app to use
  • 👎 Lack of a user-friendly manual

Should I Buy It?

If you prioritize easy installation, good quality video, and a reasonable price over software-related drawbacks and uncertainty about motion detection reliability, you may find this product suitable. However, if software ease-of-use and reliable motion detection are critical, you might want to consider other options.

  • highly recommend this Swann system.
Style: 8 Channel 8 Cameras 1TBHDD
i have had alot of security camra systems and this one is by far the best. good quality and easy to use and setup. literally just plug and play. great picture quality at 1080p and the night vision is perfect with incredible range and clarity. grant it running all the wires for a wired system is a pain but the picture quality is far superior to a wireless and there is no lag/delay in the video like a wireless. you still got a run wires for a wireless for power so might as well go all the way in running for wire system is definitely worth it. if u get one get Swann. mobile app works great and u can call tech support anytime. never needed them but the option was there. ... show more

  • Feels cheap
Style: 8 Channel 8 Cameras 1TBHDD
The camera's feel like a cheap plastic. The night vision is so so. Do like the fact I can pull it up on my phone but most Swann systems allow you to do that. Overall knowing what I do now I wouldn't have bout them. I would have spend alittle more money and got a better quality set.

  • Easy to install, easy set up!!!
Style: 8 Channel 8 Cameras 1TBHDD
Being the low amount of reviews I was a little skeptical but bought it anyways. Glad I did! Took a bit to install, about 3 hours, start to finish. Once the cameras were pointed correctly the night vision works good. The 2 megapixel cameras are great. Setting up the dvr was straight forward. Install the app on your phone, connect the dvr to internet, scan the barcode and boom, 8 cameras on my S5 active (yeah, it's old but app works great) from anywhere in the world. It's my first system but I would definitely start with Swann for my next. ... show more

  • Expected so much more from Swann, but then again it was only $350-400
Style: 8 Channel 8 Cameras 1TBHDD
What I like: - Price - Video/Picture quality is decent What I dislike: - (minor) The mouse. It's like 3/4 size and difficult to use. - (minor) Confusing on which Swann app to use. It wasn't really clear what I was suppose to use? - (medium) DVR software is clunky and feels like it was developed 10 years ago. - (medium) It only came with 60 ft cables, so I had to spend another $50+/- on more cabling to wire a small range house. - (major) Functionality!!! After a couple weeks of use, it is NOT something I would put total security into. It only seems to pick up motion/sensor movements 50% of the time, and of the 50%, some times it starts recording too late, so you miss 90% of the time the person is in front of camera, only to catch a brief glimpse or the top of a head shot. Example: I have camera's focused on my drive and front door. The other day someone drove up my drive, came to my door, we talked for about 10 mins, then they walked down my drive and drove away. What was recorded, about 10 seconds of them at my front door, then their car pulling away. The kicker is, I can go outside right now and walk out my front door, down my drive and back up into my house and it's a complete gamble on if I will be recorded. Maybe, Maybe not, it's a crap shoot. Since working from home, I use it to monitor who is outside while in my office. If I leave for the weekend or go on vacation, I DON'T trust that the cameras will appropriately sense motion and will have to change it to record 24/7. ... show more

  • Good 8-camera system.
Style: 8 Channel 8 Cameras 1TBHDD
I upgraded from an 8-camera wireless ARLO system. Actually sold that on eBay to offset new Swann system. Paid a handyman to install 8 cameras on exterior for $100 per camera out the door. Very happy with system, install and operational aspects. Definitely recommend.

  • Definitely download the manual.
Style: 8 Channel 8 Cameras 1TBHDD
Setup is pretty easy, cables were all long enough for me to set cameras on each corner of my house. Comes with a mouse for the dvr & an hdmi cord which is nice. Definitely need to find & download the manual so you know how to adjust the settings properly. Previous review says Swann logo cannot be removed but it can. You just open the main menu, go to system, select disable for the watermark. I had an issue with the password initially... I entered the password I had set but it said it was wrong. I had to call to get the information on how to set a new password. I think that Swann should include the links to download the manual & the instructions for resetting the password in the startup guide that comes with but that is my only complaint so far. ... show more
