    • Great Monitor, feels like a theater screen.
Pre-ordered this at the urging of a friend; having just built a new PC, I needed a good monitor for editing and light gaming. So far I've had it less than 12 hours so these are first impressions only. Packaging was excellent, being well supported by foam in the box. It comes with its own HDMI cable. I put it together using no instructions, everything was intuitive and easy without the use of tools. The base and frame are a beautiful mirror finish and don't attract fingerprints as easy as one would think. The neck is a bit wobbly which is why I'm giving four stars, and it isn't adjustable which would have been nice. Set up was very easy: plug in HDMI, plug in power, turn on computer, wait for the display to come on automatically and find the correct input. Adjusting the settings is done by the d-pad on the back right of the monitor and is very intuitive. They have some presets you can scroll through to get a feel of the different modes. You can tell there was some thought put into the design by Samsung. It's easy to get immersed looking at the curved display as it wraps around your peripheral vision. Color is excellent and screen is bright. Overall I am very happy so far with this purchase. 3 month update: Still looks great! No issues, LOVE the screen. It looks beautiful and has very accurate color reproduction for the photos and videos I edit. Upgrading to 5 stars now for this. ... show more

    • Great for Gaming - Overall Good Value
I purchased this monitor for my son who already had one of the exact same model (over a year now) and mentioned he was planning to get a second. So I got him this one for Xmas. He now has three monitors with the two Samsung's side by side. I have to admit the picture is awesome. Super clear and bright. He uses it mainly for gaming but also works from home on occasion and uses it for that as well. For the price it's an excellent monitor and better than some I have seen costing considerably more. My only dings on this monitor is the use of a custom power cable versus the standard computer cord. Not sure why Samsung chose to got that route. There are not a lot of connection options either with only VGA and HDMI. No DVI or Display port connections, but that is becoming the norm now days and it is a slightly older model - but not that old. Just something to be aware of if you are looking at this model. It's really a matter of preference when it comes to monitors and TVs, but I have always liked the picture quality of Samsung LCDs in any size. This monitor is absolutely amazing at this price. Unlike typical TN or IPS monitor, this VA monitor does provide a decent contrast and a reasonable fast response time (ghosting is unlikely). On top of that, the viewing angle is great.You could also over-clock to 70 something Hz for gaming purpose, which is good enough for majority of the games today. I'm not an AMD video card user, therefore I don't know how it's like with AMD sync, but my experiences with this monitor is great. If you are looking for a cost effective monitor for both video streaming and gaming, this is the one. Reasons are: 24 inch at 1080p is perfect, 27 inch is a bit pushing it. It's not bigger the better. VA panel provides beautiful images like IPS panel but not as slow, in contrast, images on TN panel is just awful. OC could easily raise the refresh rate up to 72Hz or more. "Dat slim curve is hot" However if you are looking for more high-end products on either gaming or video streaming, perhaps this monitor couldn't satisfy your need. Things like "21:9 ratio" "4K resolution" "144Hz refresh rate" or just a bigger screen. I'm for one have a more high-ended pc and I'm really used to play games with 100Hz or above. But to be fair, at this price tag, 5 star quality. ... show more

I must say to begin with, that my old monitor was badly in need of replacement. When I hooked this one up I was instantly happy with my purchase. It's a great size, not too big, not too little and it fits my space perfectly. I don't know if it's the curve or just the fact that it's new, but the picture is amazing. I'm still learning how to use all the settings, but boy is this an improvement! I recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a replacement for their sadly outdated one. ... show more
