  • Tip Down is a Nice Feature
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: After making this short video and posting this review, I've now taken this rack on a cross-country trip from NY to Montana ... and back! The rack performed flawlessly carrying my mountain bike on highways and up Jeep roads. The only nagging aspect of this rack is having to tip it down to open the back door, but that is worth it to me given the aerodynamics this rack offers! I got over 30 mpg with this rack on, which is my normal mileage, so it provided zero drag. .............. As I mention in my video, I'm a bit more in favor of using my roof rack ... but this is the best rear-rack I've tried out. Check out my video for a full overview. You'll need a 2" hitch or an adapter that goes to 2" to run this rack. I have it on our hatchback in this video, but I've also used this on my pickup truck. Fits four bikes, but you can easily run with 2 or 3. My final word to you should be "bungee" (see my picture for an example), because you'll need some good bungee cords to use this rack without the bikes clunking into the back of the car. Bungee them well and you'll be in good shape. As you can see in my pic, I bungee the front wheel to keep it from moving around, then bungee the bike forwards and back to keep it from swinging around. ... show more

  • JUNK, DON'T BUY, CHEAP, POOR DESIGN
Color: Black/White Style: 3 Bike 2019
Arrived yesterday. A rubber latch that holds the bike down tore on the first use. I was/am shocked. I chose to ignore negative reviews here and buy anyway. I'm a moron. 3 bikes DO NOT fit well AT ALL on this 3 bike rack. This 3 bike rack seems to be a 2 bike rack with a set of plastic bike holders thrown on the bar in the middle for a 3rd bike. Again, I'm shocked... hacked... frustrated... disappointed. Who can use this rack? Maybe someone who needs it a couple times a year and who owns inexpensive or worn out bikes that they dont mind getting scratched, beaten up, or possibly even falling off the rack from a broken runner latch. This is a junk piece of equipment. I'm disappointed I ignored the reviews. Will buy a name brand with a proven track record. Have attached a photo so you can see the overall rack. Can see 3 bikes do not fit without tearing into each other, bouncing around while driving and damaging each other. The latches holding the bikes down are similar to a rubber mesh. The weaves in the mesh TORE on the first use. Idiotic... ... show more

  • AVOID
Stunned by the poor quality on this item. Rack arrived with damaged paint on multiple parts (which left only bare steel exposed underneath), then one strap broke while I was trying to secure my bicycle - I can only imagine what would have happened had this broken while driving down the highway. Boxing this piece of JUNK back up and returning it to Amazon! ... show more

  • For the Price Paid......Great Value
Color: Black/White Style: 3 Bike 2019
At the last minute decided to bring our 2 bikes to Tahoe for 5 days on the back of the Escalade. Never had a bike rack, didn’t have one to borrow so went shopping here on Amazon. I read all the reviews good and bad and got the sense that the bad reviews came with customers who had unrealistic expectations for a $70 bike rack. I can’t think of any “ bad” things about this rack, only things to consider to enhance and secure your bikes better. First impression was that it is well made, sturdy and not too light and not too heavy. We have 1 men’s bike with the standard horizontal cross member and 1 women’s bike without that horizontal cross member. This came into play after I hung the men’s bike seated it and used the rubber straps to initially set into place....no problem. Then I lifted my wife’s bike up and as I maintained a one minute bicep curl, I realized without the horizontal bar as on the men’s bike to hang this one, I needed to get creative and secure this bike with tie down ratchet type straps to the other bike. Not the rack’s fault, just consider this when purchasing that I would have about 4 ratchet straps to consider to accomplish a secure, safe tow. I did, and this rack worked flawlessly. The rubber straps provided I would consider them as part of the solution, not the end all. I also would not over stretch the rubber tiedowns. Just pull them to stretch sufficient to clip over the stud. The bad reviews on the hitch bolt and lock nut provided vs fitment for a standard hitch pin was a non issue for me. I had no reason to remove the rack during the trip. Once the bikes were unloaded, you have full clearance to open the hatch back door with the temporay removal of a small pin that allows the rack to move forward providing access to the rear of the car. I also checked that main bolt and lock washer during the trip coming and going for any loosening and it didn’t budge. For the money......It’s a bargain. Just take note of the considerations above and it will work fine. I purchased the 3 bike rack because it was had a higher weight rating and extended bar for more room even though I only planned to haul 2 bikes. If all the above seems to troublesome consider paying about $45 bucks more for Critical Cycles Lenox Hitch Mount Tray Rack 2 bike. This style the bike’s wheels rest securely in/on trays which makes the womens bike issue a non issue ... show more

Easy assembly and easy to install on whatever hitch receiver you're using it on but the quality of this particular bike rack is garbage. I only ever used it to haul 2 adult bikes on the back of my travel trailer for camping. And there is an incredible amount of play in the pins that lock it in position causing it to bounce the bikes excessively, which caused $100 worth of damage to my bike. After repairing my bike and using this again, I used a foam pool noodle to provide protection to the cables on my bike and also used a Wratchet strap to prevent the bouncing of my bikes. The bracket that attaches to the 4x4 bumper broke and I'm extremely lucky I didn't lose my bikes on the side of the freeway. Needless to say the rack is officially junk and was thrown in the trash after only 3 months of use. The plastic tie downs that are on the rack arms that actually hold your bikes frame are also junk and constantly move and almost slide off the end of the rack. I tightened them at least 4 times and didn't want to tighten too tightly because they are only plastic. I would highly recommend spending a little extra money and get something more reliable. ... show more
