I bought this to replace a presumably, 20-year-old version of a similar shade. The old one was dingy and dusty, and we wanted one that would block more light and insulate the window because the window it’s in gets a ton of light during the day and the room gets very warm. And frankly we need all of our windows replaced as well. So this shade is sort of reflective on one side, so we have that facing outward to repel sun rays and it seems to be working really well especially in tandem with the blackout curtain. We got to keep the room nice and cool. It was pretty easy to install. I was able to cut it to size just with the box cutter very easily. Our original purchase did not come with the little plastic thingy that you need in the center of the arch. It just was not included in the box. But after speaking with Amazon customer support, they just sent me a second one so it all worked out. I really only needed the little plastic piece but they were unable to send me just the little plastic piece so now I have a back up shade. We tried to use the existing plastic piece that we had from the old shade, but it was too thin. But it all worked out! ... show more

Fairly easy to install and stays up. We have had ours for 2+ years and it still sticks fine. We clean by vacuuming it on low every few months. I was nervous it would look cheap but it really doesn’t look too bad and the color can tie into any room. It will not fully black out the room but it limits most light. ... show more

Tip of the day: Measure your window first and make sure the the height is exactly 1/2 of the width. I had a difference of 1.375 inches and had to trim the shade after I cut it. Unfolding the shade to get it to fit into the window, enough to mark where I needed to trim it, was an exercise in patience that I ran out of that in a hurry. It is not light blocking; it is light filtering. This is in a sewing room that is also used as a guest room so I will need to figure something out when guests stay the night. If it was for a regularly used bedroom, I would opt for fabric covered poster board or cardboard or add window film behind the arch shade it to help darken the room. It is not the wooden plantation treatment I would like, but it works for now, perfect for a bedroom Read and think through the instructions and you will get it ! I got the 72 inches cut just 1 inch to make it fit BUT if I know that you can fold the edges a little bit around the arch you will completely cover all the light. ... show more

First off, probably not the seller's fault but the packaging arrived in a complete mess, with the plastic middle piece broken. Not catastrophic, glued it back together and while it doesn't look great, it did the job. As for the actual product, it was easy to cut and install however I was really frustrated with the center arch. I just couldn't get the pleats to evenly distribute, as you can see in the last photo. It's supposed to be an adjustable, one-size-fits-all product so I understand it might be the fault of uneven cutting on my end. All in all, little bit of a hassle but satisfied. ... show more

The shade is very flimsy and crinkles quite easily leaving the covering looking like a dollar store purchase. Once it was up, it was very very blue in color. I ended up removing it and putting up a cling film instead.
