    • Worked great for above ground, flat pool
First I will disclose it surely is winter in Western New York which means lots of snow and ice but we couldn't resist because we spend a lot of time skimming our pool in the summer each day. The box arrived fairly quickly, looks really high end and came complete with all items and directions as expected. We unboxed it just to really get an idea of quality and how it works. It charged fairly quickly with the provided charger. We were too curious so we turned on our heater to be sure the pool wasn't too cold and tested out this little machine. There was visible debris on the bottom of the pool and we could actually watch it work by how it looked in front of the machine and after it passed. It really did a great job cleaning the small to moderate amount of debris and it tracked itself pretty well so it rounded the whole circle of the pool. Although I have great things to say there are cons and specs that are important to consider when buying. This is designed only for certain terrain. Do not take your Ferrari off roading. It is not designed to clean walls or anything but the flat and even bottom of the pool. I believe it would work in a deep pool but possibly not as well. Its motion is dependent on the water pass through which may not hold it close enough to the floor in a deeper pool making the cleaning less effective. The battery claims to work approximately 90 minutes. It completed our pool in less time than that so we let it continue to run just to see how long it would actually run with one charge. It was close at about 85 minutes but also may be affected by the colder New York winter water. Overall the cleaner is as expected and a great choice. It is a splurge for us in terms of price but having the added help cleaning the pool that we love it will surely make it worth every penny. ... show more

    • Carefully read the description - Running time was somewhat less than 90 minutes
First of all, I should say that I'm not the target audience for this pool cleaning robot. I have an in-ground pool, but it has two different levels with a significant slope between the shallow and the deep end. The description very clearly says this is for an above ground pool (with a flat bottom) or an in-ground pool with a flat bottom. It was still worth a try for me, though because I already have a more expensive corded pool cleaner vacuum and I was really just hoping for this to be a decent supplement for the deep end. I didn't receive this cleaner until after my pool was already closed for the winter (but the water wasn't frozen). I could still test, though by taking off part of the cover. (The water was drained down a couple of feet - but since this won't climb walls anyway, I didn't think it would make much difference, and there was some debris on the bottom that fell in after I was done cleaning - but not fully closed yet.) In the tests I ran, I started it in the shallow end just to see how it would do. There is significantly less power than my corded pool cleaner (but I wouldn't expect this to be the same) - and it doesn't climb walls our our incline. It ran around the shallow end for a while, then when it slid down the transition to the deep end, then it stayed in the deep end until the battery died. It did seem to do more than just push the dirt around. The trail behind the pool cleaner was clean. (Note that there is no power drive, it is moving because of the force of the water being pumped into the filter.) It did not last in the shallow end very long - because there was nothing to keep it from going off the drop-off. It quickly made its way to the bottom of the pool and I left it doing its thing on the bottom of the pool (seemingly random motion). Once again, at no time did it go uphill or even try to move up the incline. When I came back after the cleaner should have been running about an hour - it had already stopped. I believe it was still running at about 40 minutes - but the performance was less than the 90 minutes advertised (even when initially fully charged). On the plus side, it did a fair job of picking up dirt. The bottom of the pool looked the way it should have when I closed it. I liked the molded handle on the pool cleaner - it was easy to grab with the included hook on my brush pole. Reasonable design and straight forward to clean. I will continue to use this as a supplement to my normal cleaning equipment. I think this is much more suited to a smaller above ground pool (or really flat-bottomed in-ground pool) - but it did a reasonable job for something without a cord.
