  • Seems like a good paddle
Color: Yellow
We have only used the paddles once but they seem pretty good. Noticeably lighter than aluminum paddles we have used previously. They seem well constructed, with no flex in the shafts. The edges of the holes that are drilled for the adjustments were a little sharp so I smoothed things over with some 320 grit sandpaper. ... show more

  • Great paddle
Color: Black
I love thos paddle, it's lightweight and adjustable so I don't fel like I'm sitting too high up. Also, the foam paddle grips are pretty good on it

  • Not much bite
Color: Black
If you just want to say you have a paddle with some carbon fiber in it, then buy this. I trust them that it's there. It is also not a bad value. However, I would recommend other options for a similar price if you just want the best paddle for your money. I have a Bending Branches Whisper that I used before this. It is only slightly more expensive. It's aluminum, but only weighs about 3 ounces more. And it gets a lot more bite on each stroke. I felt like I was paddling with a broom stick when I first switched to this Oceanbroad paddle. It seemed like i wasn't getting anywhere. I got much more power and traveled farther with each stroke with my other paddle. I also don't like that I have to hold part of the shaft that has holes in it when I use this at its longest setting. It is not comfortable to hold it in that area. Personally, if I wanted a cheap paddle, I would go with the basic paddle from a big sporting goods store. If I want light, I would go with a more expensive carbon fiber paddle - lighter than this and more efficient paddling. If I want value and balance, I would go with the Whisper, especially when it's on sale. There is nothing wrong with this paddle - it works, and seems strong enough. I don't think it will break easily and strand you anywhere. But any benefit you think you are getting from carbon fiber will be lost by all the extra strokes you need to take to move through the water. And it is really not that lightweight. ... show more

  • Carbon fiber but very thin.
Color: Red
I used this one day and like it well enough. I can really move the water, the paddle end is sturdy and well designed for moving water. Very light weight and thick enough poke for a 5’10 225# guy to grip all day with no issues. I think a lady would do very well also. I have used it as a lever to get off rocks with no issues, rather surprised at the strength. Mine is a full carbon tube and I worked with carbon fiber as a carbon fiber technician so yes I know a carbon tube. The thin tube is prone to bulging around the push button holes. Can’t be helped with a light weight tube like this. Wish the carbon was a 1/16 thicker. Changed length easily and can be shifted 45 degrees for off set paddles CW or CCW or even. The tube is perfectly round and not oval so I had to look to see how to set the paddle if I lost the grip. A oval rods enable the rower to know by feel how to hold the paddle. Oval is better but not at this price point and it loses the ability to cant the paddles 45 degrees CW or CCW by simply twisting the the center to the next notch. I think this is great for light to medium use, definitely not for the company or business with hard daily use. The tube is too delicate for rentals. For personal use with a person who is not a gorilla I think it will work great. ... show more

  • Great paddle
Color: Blue
I love that this kayak paddle is adjustable in length. It’s very light in weight but strong and sturdy. The carbon shaft was what sealed the deal for me.

  • Great buy!
I had a stock paddle for a while and didn’t really feel a real need to upgrade it. I got to where I was going and it worked fine. Sometimes, if I haven’t paddled in a little while I’d get a blister on my thumb on the aluminum shaft. I love researching my hobbies and have been upgrading all the little things on the kayak and adding cool accessories and I kept seeing more about the benefit of spending a bit for a good paddle. I found this one in this price range (I can’t justify buying a $200 paddle...yet) to have the best reviews and comments. Every paddle’s comments had flaws, but the comments on this paddle seemed to be the best flaws I could live with, while most commenters had no flaws at all. So I bought it. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase! It really has made a difference in my comfort paddling long distances. It’s smoother in the water. The carbon fiber shaft is soft but firm in my hands - no blisters...not even close to getting a blister actually. If you’re thinking about upgrading your stock paddle, this is a great purchase. The cheaper ones will be more of the same stick type paddle. There are carbon shaft paddles that are about $20 cheaper maybe, but I found this one to have the length I needed and the shape paddle I was looking for - long and slender to glide through the water with ease while pushing me forward smoothly. It really does feel better. And now I have my stock paddle as a spare paddle tucked into the kayak. I pull that one out when I’m near shore and it’s rocky and I don’t care if it gets banged up. My new baby will be cared for well while the old paddle does all the dirty work - lol Buy with confidence! ... show more

  • Design flaw?
I liked the looks of these when I purchased them. But after the first trip using them on an Adirondack lake, I was disappointed with what I assume is a design flaw. The face of each paddle has a deep, somewhat wide groove down the middle; I assume for getting a bit more "bite" ow water while paddling. Problem is, the water runs right down these channels on the up stroke, and drains down your arm, or onto your shorts/inside the kayak. I tried various grips and angles and strokes but it never go much better. I don't have this problem with my other two paddles, which do not have any groove molded into their paddle face. ... show more

  • Nice Lightweight Paddle
Color: Yellow
This paddle seems to be lightweight with curved paddle ends for kayaking. My only concern is that the one I received appears to have been used - one of the paddles has DIRT encrusted in a raised center section- hopefully it was not returned for a defect! It was not listed as "used" in the description. Very surprised that this would be sent out again.... ... show more
