I upgraded my Nuwave air fryer. I had the first one in black and red and when I saw they had an upgraded model I jumped on it. The first one I had when you pulled it out it was very heavy and the new model is very light and I like that and let’s talk about the beautiful color I love it. That’s why I bought it for the color and it’s sturdy the older model was with a slant where this one is just right and I love I caught it on sale. I’m glad I didn’t buy it last week. Air Fryers used to intimidate me. Just that unknown factor with an unfamiliar appliance. BIG BONUS straight away before I forget to mention it, COMES with a COOKBOOK for this fryer in the pack too !!!! Well, this airfryer is fairly easy to use and refer back to the instruction to use the many many features of this, Simply air frying is just a couple of buttons, YOU NEED TO PREHEAT in order for your food to come out right. PREHEAT with the empty "drawer" in it, then pull it out, I set mine in the empty sink since the sink is metal, no heat related proboems, don't touch the sides of the drawer its hot, I also use parchment liners or the purchased separately wire rack insert. Have what ever you are useing to go in the drawer packed in your cooking base already, just easier that way and you will not loose the heat from the preheat, Then put the loaded cooking drawer back in the unit, press what ever cooking button and the timer and your good to go. Default time is 15 minutes, give you enough time to cook the side dishes in another cooking method you will be eating with the main in the airfryer, when the timer goes off, carefully pull the very hot drawer out, set it on a heat proof surface or as I do, back in the empty sink, pick out your cooked food, plate and eat. I have not cooked very liquidy anything in my airfryer yet since that sort fo thing can be cooked fairly easily with other cooking methods. There is also a few different features available with this 8 quart, yes, 8 quart fair fryer, I have not tried to drying option or the baking option, but the air fryed chicken, Oh yes, much better than the bagged frozen we get in the store, Have cooked that in this too, and it turns out well. Well seasoned potato wedges, Yes those are faster and just as good as oven baked. Make sure and spray a bit of oil in them before you cook them so they will brown up and not stay pasty white. I have my eyes on the baked goods recipes and plan on trying those out too. Such a nice to have included recipes you do not have to right away go internet searching for. On that note, their website has a few pages of recipes for most of their appliances. Don't know who did the product cooking testing or took the pix but well done you!! I am relatively new to the air fryer game. I know others who have them and I know a couple people who have the air fryer ovens which are more like a traditional counter top oven but I have very little to no experience with the traditional style air fryer. I saw the Nuwave brand air fryer and since I recognized the brand name, I thought it is time to give it a shot. This 8 qt air fryer is BIG. It is much larger than I expected it to be. It is large enough to fit put o a 5lb chicken which is quite large. There is plenty of space for many different kinds of foods. The Air fryer is extremely easy to use. There are 100 preset options built in and each one has its own recipe in the included recipe book. This was great because since I am new with air fryers, I was able to find something I wanted to cook, in this case, chicken wings, and followed the recipe. My first time I used the air fryer was with 1 lb of fresh chicken wings. There is a bbq chicken wing recipe that I followed although I did not use the bbq sauce. Instead of just mixed up some buffalo sauce and butter to create a more traditional buffalo wing sauce. I chose the preset option for the chicken wings because that part of the cooking remains the same, and hit start. At this point, the preheating started. It was heating up to 375 degrees F. This is where my only real complaint comes in. It took SO long to preheat. Unfortunately I did not time it, but It took at least 20 minutes to preheat! It takes about 5-10 minutes to preheat my kitchen oven which is 10 times the size of this little thing. Once it FINALLY preheated, I opened it up to load the chicken wings in and closed it up to start the cook. It was preset to 20 minutes and at 10 minutes, it beeps because you need to flip the wings. I was always under the impression that the entire point of an air fryer is to not need to flip your food. The air is supposed to circulate with a powerful fan, and the food is on a breathable rack to allow air flow. I guess I was wrong because flipping was still necessary. After the food was finished cooking, I took them out, mixed them in my sauce, and ate them. The wings were cooked completely (which I tested with an instant read thermometer first to be sure) but they were definitely not crispy. They were nice and juicy which is ok, but I prefer my chicken wings crispy. Cleanup was very quick. There are only two things to clean, the main basket and the slotted rack that sits on the bottom. The rack pops right out and both were very easy to clean. Overall I am happy with the Nuwave air fryer. Besides the ridiculous amount of time it takes to preheat, cooking with it was very easy and cleanup was easier. The compartment is huge and plenty of space for almost anything you could want to make in this kind of oven. With all of the presets and associated recipes, you will have many options. I recommend this unit to anyone looking for a family sized counter top air fryer. ... show more
