Well it started about three months ago when the ice maker to my SAMSUNG fridge just died. Of course it was out of warranty so that’s when things break with this company. Same thing happened to our oven, when the SAMSUNG oven’s computer overheated. Leave to SAMSUNG to design a computer chip to not be insulated from the heat of all things an oven? Ok enough bagging on Samsung. So like i said the ice maker in the fridge stopped working. We tried to reset it by going on YouTube to see what to do. No luck. We called them to see how much it would be to get it fixed, that was just too much. So why not do what everyone else does, go buy another single use product, an ice maker from Igloo. And it has been the most used thing in the kitchen so far. We use it everyday now, since it’s summer and hot. My wife loves ice and this ice maker does not disappoint, unlike the samsung products we have. I will say it is not quiet in the least. But It does make a good amount of ice in a day, supposedly 24 pounds of it. Easy to use and pretty quick to make a batch of ice, 8-12 minutes, that’s pretty fast considering the actual thing you spend thousands of dollars to make use isn’t working any more. Thanks samsung!Thanks for nothing! Ok i think I’m done with my rant. But this igloo ice maker is quite the machine. Fast and nice ice drops come out, even has a nice reservoir for the ice. And if you don’t use them up they just melt back, and drip back into the water collection area to be remade into ice drops. My wife suggests making the smaller sized ones. They are faster and for some reason don’t stick as much as the large ones. The large ones make a big clump in the ice holder. ... show more

The ice-maker has clean lines and is easy to operate, which is good since the directions are sometimes less than clear. For example, the directions say that you should clean the interior before using it, which is obviously a good idea. It even gives you suggested cleaning solutions but never tell you how much to pour into the machine. The ice tastes fresh and can be made in two sizes.     • Good but not great ice maker

This ice maker is good. It makes ice reliably, it is low maintenance, and it is easy to use. It can be pretty noisy. We started this unit out on the counter of our kitchen and it was always heard. We found a new place for it in our pantry and now we can hear it much less. I'd place it in the 55dB range, but I could be wrong. The thing that I find most frustrating is that when the ice basket is about halfway full, the ice will build up closer to the ice maker such that it will block the new ice, triggering an error on the machine. Because of this, it's very difficult to get it to produce a full basket of ice without constant intervention. That said, even with it filling the basket only partway, this unit produces about the amount of ice we need for our family of 5. While we're glad that we don't need a huge ice maker unit, we do wish that this one worked just a little quieter and were a little more unnoticed in the house. ... show more

Decided to return this product after using it for two days. There are some pros and cons with this ice maker but the cons are a deal breaker for me. Pros: Small footprint, fairly silent like a distant bathroom fan, makes ice quickly, has a drain plug at the bottom, self cleaning feature. Cons: Since it's small it has a small fan also, which causes the ice to be wet even after a few batches. The ice never solidifies and melt overnight. I have another ice maker I purchased for less than $90, which is slightly larger than this one and has a larger fan. That one solidifies the ice after the 3rd batch due to the size of the fan. Ice is kept overnight without melting. This Igaloo one has a smaller footprint, which makes the fan smaller. Even after the 3rd and 4th batch of ice the ice still is wet. When the water needs to be refilled, the ice doesn't keep overnight. Despite the ice melting into the reservoir below, the need water indicator is on. This is a flaw because my cheaper ice maker detects water in the reservoir if the ice melts and makes new batch of ice until water run out. This one if the ice melts, it requires more water to be added or it requires a power off/on cycle for the sensor to detect water in the reservoir. If you plan to use ice right away and don't mind wet ice, where the ice would melt quickly in your liquid, this would be fine for you. If you're looking for cold ice or want ice to keep overnight, buy one with a larger fan size. ... show more
