I bought this unit for use as a motion activated doorbell for my store as the one we had was way too quiet to be effective. The unit was easy to install and works perfectly; it's a great value at under $30. The chime unit can be free standing or mounted. The motion sensor can be mounted with mounting tape or screws (included) upside down sideways and has an adjustable bracket. I recommend using screws instead of the mounting tape included as the mounting tape is the standard two sided white foam type that will eventually dry up after a few years and sensor may fall. If you don't want to use screws, I would recommend you buy some 3M auto molding tape which seems to last forever and is very hard to remove. The sensor and transmitter range is fantastic and I had no trouble in my store with it (supposedly it has the range of up to just over the length of 3 football fields). I initially just put batteries in the chime and motion sensor after unboxing and installed them. The default setting is a motion activated door chime that is a loud ding dong ding dong. I did not realize that the unit had a host of other tones, features, voice you can program using the 4 buttons on the unit. I found the programming to be a bit tricky and for my use, the other features are overkill since I just needed it as a motion activated door chime. After messing with it, I found out that it has 4 volume settings. The default setting is set at the LOUDEST setting which is great for some uses. For my roughly 10,000 SQ FT store, the second volume setting is adequate if you do not have any background music playing. ... show more

I bought 2 transmitters with 1 receiver. One transmitter is in my mailbox & works like a charm. The receiver is on a stand in my living room. I know the moment my mail arrives. The other transmitter was supposed to be positioned near the front door when I am expecting a delivery. Still working on this one... I've moved it several times, but I get false alarms. I believe it is so sensitive that it reacts to birds and shadows from sun & clouds. It may send signal to receiver 2 or 3 times before actual delivery of package, making it useless for delivery notification. I have a few more options to try before I give up on this one. This is so easy to set up and use. It has a good selection of sounds. My back is to my home office door and this alerts my to "visitors". I highly recommend tis one with the remote.

I mounted two of these on each frame of two different garage doors. One of the garage doors is almost 300 feet from where the receiver is located. Works every time. Bad news... it rings when the garage door goes up... rings again when I enter the garage to get into the car...rings again when my car is pulling out..and rings one more time...when the door goes down. You will har the alarm..four times. BUT... it does work so far... and it is priced nicely...worth the purchase. ... show more

This is a perfect motion detector that detects an area of traffic by sound and color of the blinking lights (red or blue). There are so many choices of sounds and music to select. I chose the simple "ding-dong" chime. It has an adjustable sound volume; the lowest volume is still loud, but that is fine. All three components are battery operated, but the sound receiver have an option to use an A/C adaptor, instead of batteries. Highly recommended. ... show more

My cat is not "allowed" to go upstairs but she sneaks in anyway. I needed something that would detect her going up the stairs immediately. This works perfectly well for that. It doesn't really need to be installed, just placed vertically on a step (vertically so it only detects movement on the stairs). It doesn't get false alarms. The only thing I don't like is that the manual is pretty bad. It comes with an annoying voice and I wanted to change it to a chime. It takes a weird combination of button presses to get there and now I am stuck with the chime and lights on the detector that I didn't want. ... show more

We have a fenced back yard and let our old lady Harlowe outside to do her business and run around in the yard. When she's ready to come back, she used to sit outside the door (in the garage) and whine, and sometimes we wouldn't hear her. We would leave the door open a crack, but the wind would sometimes blow it open. My wife asked me if there was anything that would "sense" her and alert us, and this did the trick! I mounted the motion sensor outside the door on a shelf pointing at the stairs. The receiver (chime) is inside on the counter. We turn it on when she goes out, and the "doorbell" alerts us when she's back. The volume is adjustable, and is loud enough to hear even if we are upstairs. We turn the receiver (chime) off when she's back. I will update this review after I see how long the batteries last in the motion sensor, as I don't go out and turn that off every time. It's been about 2 weeks, and this product is fantastic. EDIT: One year later, and still works great! Haven't changed the batteries yet, and we use it multiple times a day.
